    If no one can stand behind the answer, the AI is not ready. A lot of enterprise AI conversations skip the most important question: when the answer matters, who actually owns it? Once AI starts touching People Analytics data and decisions like hiring, performance, pay, promotion, or workforce planning, that gets real fast. And standing up the tool is not the same thing as owning the answer. IT might implement it. Security might approve it. A vendor might power it. None of that tells you who is accountable for the logic, the workflow, and the decision to use the output. It also does not tell you who owns maintenance. Because this stuff drifts. Source systems change. Mappings change. Definitions evolve. New workflows get added. Six months later, the system can still look polished while quietly becoming less trustworthy. So the ownership question is bigger than who launched it. Who owns the definition logic? Who owns the workflow? Who owns the decision risk? And who owns reviewing it when the answer starts drifting from reality? That is the test I keep coming back to. If your team cannot clearly answer those questions, you probably have an implementation plan, not quite a governance model. And if no one can explain why the answer was used, defend the logic underneath it, and own the outcome, then the system is not ready for trust. It is just ready for demos.
