In a new blog post, Oak HC/FT General Partner Matt Streisfeld explores how AI is driving a structural reallocation of human and machine capital – not just reducing headcount, but fundamentally changing how work gets done. Recent signals, from Block’s shift toward “intelligence tools” and leaner teams to market reactions following Anthropic’s Claude Code Security launch, suggest the market is establishing a new baseline for operational velocity and efficiency – fundamentally rewriting the startup playbook. Every generation, step changes in technology enable the creation of new infrastructure layers in healthcare – and we believe clinical capacity is next. Thesis Care is building that layer, pairing AI agents with expert clinicians to expand care team capacity at some of the nation’s largest physician groups. We're leading their $45 million Series A, and couldn't be more excited to keep building alongside Niren Gandra and Aditya Pandyaram. Read more: https://lnkd.in/exdKABQT

We're thrilled that Oak HC/FT is leading Spade's $40M Series B. Spade solves one of fintech's most stubborn infrastructure problems – transforming raw transaction records into verified merchant intelligence in real time, with more than 99% accuracy and 99.9% coverage across U.S. and Canadian merchants. The next decade of fintech will be built by institutions that can see their data in real time, at scale, with enough accuracy to act on it – and we believe Spade is how that happens. I've been on the internet long enough to know that starting a post with 'some news!' is a tell. So I'll just say it: after 4.5 incredible years at Andreessen Horowitz, I've joined Oak HC/FT as a Partner. a16z was a defining chapter in my life and career. I learned the craft of investing from some of the most talented VCs on the planet. I backed extraordinary entrepreneurs who are changing the world in real-time. I found my voice online and wrote about ideas and markets in a way that felt authentic to me. And I made many lifelong friends throughout the process. I have endless amounts of gratitude for David Haber for bringing me to the firm, and for Alastair, Anish, Angela and the whole Apps investing team for making my time there such a formative and fulfilling experience. There are far too many people to tag and thank, so I’ll leave it at that for now. So why Oak — and why now? Fintech is being redefined. For years, the category meant modernizing the core infrastructure of traditional financial services — replacing legacy systems with digital-first alternatives. That era produced transformational companies, and Oak was there. But the category's edges are expanding. In my conversations with Annie Lamont and Matt Streisfeld, it was clear they saw fintech the way I did – as everything at the intersection of technology and money. That includes traditional fintech businesses, but also adds the full spectrum of companies shaping how financial decisions are made, how money flows, how risk is managed, and how value is exchanged in an agentic world. Through that lens, many, many companies are fintech companies, and we couldn’t be more excited to go find the most ambitious ones. Luckily, we just announced roughly $2B in freshly committed capital to put to the task! Speaking of the task at hand: you may know Oak best for its track record of backing exceptional growth stage companies. While that is still very core to the mandate, I’ll also be focused on expanding our presence in early stage investing and earning the right to partner with the most talented entrepreneurs as early as the inception stage. If you’re raising anything from a $1M to $100M round, my goal is to make Oak your preferred partner. With that in mind – we are hiring! We’re looking for two new investors to join the fintech team. You might be a good fit if you’re a technical operator with a deep network interested in trying your hand at investing, or an early career investor looking for a very high agency next gig. Please reach out if you’d like to toss your hat in the ring! I’ve gone from the Other Marc A at a16z to simply marc@oakhcft.com. There’s lots to do, and my energy levels are through the roof. Huge thanks to Annie and Andrew for bringing me on board and trusting me with the mission at hand. And shout out to the new squad Matt, Oivind, Allen, Audrey, Felix – I couldn’t be more excited to work together. And now, I think it’s okay to say one last time: it’s time to build!

Fintech is being fundamentally redefined. What once was about modernizing legacy systems has now expanded into a broader, deeper opportunity at the intersection of technology and money. From how financial decisions are made to how capital flows and risk is managed, the next wave of innovation is happening across the full financial architecture – and Oak is investing boldly in that future. Today, we’re thrilled to welcome Marc Andrusko as a Partner on our fintech investment team. Marc brings a rare combination of operating experience and investment instinct, with a career spanning capital markets, financial data infrastructure, and AI-era investing that mirrors exactly how we think about where fintech is headed. His full-stack experience makes him the ideal partner to help lead this charge. Please join us in welcoming Marc! Read more: https://lnkd.in/ehVd4tMP
