Why do patients discontinue prescription treatment for atopic dermatitis after starting? Our survey of more than 1,000 patients and caregivers identified side effects, unmet expectations and loss of effectiveness as leading reasons for treatment discontinuation. These findings reinforce the importance of shared decision-making in atopic dermatitis care. We invite you to visit our poster at American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology - AAAAI, presented by our very own Wendy Smith Begolka, to learn more about the data and its implications. Tori Spelling kept her eczema private for years, despite being open about virtually everything else. Her daughter Stella missed almost all of sixth grade because of severe eczema. Now both are speaking openly, and it's creating space for the 31+ million Americans with eczema to do the same. 💙 "The more we talk about it, the more we can help each other," Stella says. Why they decided to go public with their eczema journey: https://lnkd.in/ekg3SnEi #FreeToBeMe #UnhideEczema #EczemaAwareness #PatientAdvocacy #ChronicIllness

What do people who track eczema triggers in a digital tool look like, and what triggers do they report most? In this analysis of 6,500+ U.S. adults with eczema and caregivers, we found users reported moderate disease severity, meaningful stress levels and a wide range of trigger exposures, most commonly irritants and environmental allergens. The distribution of demographic characteristics, stress levels and PO-SCORAD scores provides insight into the burden of disease in this population and highlights how digital tracking can support more personalized eczema education and management. Visit our poster at American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology - AAAAI presented by NEA's Wendy Smith Begolka to learn more about the findings and their implications for clinical practice and patient engagement. Eczema isn’t just something people manage; it’s something they live with every day. That understanding is shaping NEA’s next chapter. Our reimagined mission, vision and values were developed with patients lived experience at the center — shaped by what they need now and evolving into the future. Together we’re creating a future where living with eczema comes with more understanding, support and possibility. In just a few days, NEA is exhibiting at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology - AAAAI Annual Meeting at Pennsylvania Convention Center. We’re also presenting research findings on a critical challenge in atopic dermatitis care: treatment discontinuation. Our survey of over 1,000 patients and caregivers reveals why people stop AD treatments after starting them. Side effects, unmet expectations and treatments losing effectiveness emerged as common reasons. These findings underscore the importance of ongoing patient check-ins and shared decision-making throughout the treatment journey. Stop by booth 1506 to connect with our team and view our research poster presentations. Unable to attend? Next Tuesday, February 24, NEA is hosting a policy briefing on Capitol Hill: "Tackling Step Therapy, Treatment Delays and Research Funding." Members of Congress and their staff will hear directly from the eczema community: NEA staff and Ambassadors sharing real patient experiences alongside late-breaking research on healthcare access barriers and people-first policy solutions. This is an important opportunity to connect patient voices with policymakers who can drive meaningful change in eczema care. If you could share one insight about eczema care challenges with legislators, what would it be? #HealthcarePolicy #PatientAdvocacy #EczemaAwareness #HealthcareAccess #PolicyChange

We are grateful for the strong engagement from our NEA Corporate Council at this year’s winter meeting. A key focus was defining flare from the patient perspective and exploring how industry and NEA can work together to advance a shared understanding that truly reflects lived experience. When we align around patient-informed definitions, we strengthen research, innovation and care. Thank you for your partnership in driving this work forward. #EczemaCommunity #PatientVoice #Collaboration
