This year, we're celebrating 50 years of research at the Facility of Accelerated Service Testing (FAST®). What makes FAST unlike any other test track in North America? FAST is purpose built. When MxV Rail relocated it’s entire testing facility in 2022, we knew we had the perfect opportunity to take the best aspects of our old test tracks and improve upon them with designs that work the way modern on-track testing demands. As part of our larger track loop configuration, the FAST loop allows rail components to experience years of real world conditions in a controlled environment—faster and more efficiently than revenue service alone. For five decades, our work at FAST has helped the industry move forward with confidence. And the newest generation of FAST tracks were designed with purpose: to push rail systems to their limits—safely, rigorously, and purposefully. #FAST50 #PurposeBuilt #MxVRail #RailInfrastructure #RailResearch #ResearchandTesting #RailSafety #momentum

Shining a spotlight on MxV Rail Principal Systems Engineer II, Alejandro Gonzalez-Ruiz (Alejandro G.)! 👏 As Program Co-Lead for the Positive Train Control (PTC) Interoperable Lifecycle Program and Lead of the PTC Systems Engineering Advisory Group, Alejandro is helping drive the future of safer, smarter, and more efficient rail operations. His work plays a key role in shaping how the industry adopts and evolves train control technology. Alejandro joined Team MxV Rail in 2013 and his expertise, leadership, and passion for innovation continue to make a lasting impact—helping advance critical rail technologies while mentoring and supporting the next generation of engineers. What excites him most? Seeing innovation move rapidly across the rail industry and knowing his work contributes to improving safety and operational performance every day. Outside the office, Alejandro brings the same energy and curiosity to his personal life. Whether he’s mountain biking, skiing, swimming, yoga, traveling, exploring Colorado, or enjoying live music, he’s always seeking new experiences and challenges. Alejandro is also deeply committed to giving back through volunteer work with the Salvation Army, and he credits the strong mentorship and collaboration at MxV Rail for helping shape his own career and leadership journey. 💡 His advice: Adaptability is key to success—just like plants that evolve to survive and thrive. Fun facts: 🌎 Born in Guatemala City 🗣 Speaks English, Spanish, and German 🎓 Holds a Ph.D. in wireless communications, signal processing, and robotics We’re grateful to have Alejandro on the MxV Rail team and excited to see the continued impact of his leadership and expertise across the industry! #MxVRail #RailInnovation #PTC #teamwork #VivaQuatemala!

The future of rail is so bright! 😎
Happy National Train Day! Last week (April 28–30), I had the opportunity to attend the 31st Annual AAR Research Review hosted by MxV Rail in Pueblo, Colorado. I was honored to receive a Student Travel Grant, which supported my participation in this valuable event. It was a great experience to attend the Early Career Railroader Workshop, technical presentations, and the FAST® track walk, while learning from industry experts and researchers in railroad engineering, structural health monitoring, and transportation infrastructure. As a PhD student in Civil Engineering at The University of New Mexico, this experience gave me deeper insight into the practical challenges and innovations in rail systems, structural dynamics, and infrastructure inspection technologies. I’m thankful for this opportunity and for the support from my advisor Fernando Moreu and organizers .Anish P., Scott Cummings who made this possible. Looking forward to applying these insights to my research and future work in smart infrastructure and railroad. #NationalTrainDay #AARResearchReview #MxVRail #RailResearch #CivilEngineering #PhD #StructuralDynamics #SmartInfrastructure #Research #TransportationEngineering #UNM

⭐ Employee Spotlight: Meet Stephen Vanderhoff! ⭐ For the past 13 years, Stephen Vanderhoff has been a steady and trusted leader at MxV Rail. As General Manager of the Mechanical Inspection Department (MID), Stephen plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance across the rail industry. Stephen leads the MID team in performing mechanical inspections for railroads and conducting QA audits. He oversees audit assignments, certifications, and day-to-day department management—making sure the right tools, knowledge, and support are always in place. What excites him most about his role is being able to help his team succeed. Whether answering questions, removing roadblocks, or providing resources, Stephen thrives on supporting a group that is known for teamwork, collaboration, and a willingness to help one another. One aspect of the industry Stephen truly enjoys is contributing technical information to AAR technical committees, helping shape, write, and refine rules and specifications that impact rail safety and operations nationwide. Outside of work, serves as a Deacon at Grace Church in Nassau County, Florida —a role that’s very important to him. Through the church, he helps organize food distributions for those in need and supports community members with hands-on help, from moving assistance to general outreach. Family is at the center of Stephen’s life. A proud father of five, he gives a special shoutout to them as his greatest source of pride, with one currently in college and the rest graduated. In his free time, Stephen enjoys fishing in the north Florida waterways from his boat and working on automobiles alongside his kids. One lesson Stephen has learned through both life and hobbies: the older you get, the more you realize how much there is still to learn—a mindset that keeps him humble, curious, and growing as a leader. We’re grateful for Stephen’s leadership, integrity, and commitment to both his team and the industry. He’s a vital part of what keeps MxV Rail moving forward. 🚆💙 #EmployeeSpotlight #TeamMxVRail #MechanicalInspection #RailSafety #Leadership #Teamwork
