SPRINGING INTO ADVENTURE 🌸🪂 (also known as: my nervous system finally thawing out) WHY SPRING IS MY SEASON ☀️ Spring is my favorite time of year. And yes — adventure is part of it. But if I’m being honest? 🌡️ As a quadriplegic with zero thermal regulation, warmth isn’t a preference — it’s a performance enhancer. 😅 Cold Ali is not peak Ali. Warm weather means more movement. More movement means more possibility. And possibility is where things get interesting. WHAT ADVENTURE LOOKS LIKE FOR ME 🪂 Adventure, for me, isn’t one thing. It’s a pattern. ✈️ Jumping out of planes. 🌊 Diving into oceans. 🌄 Hanging off zip lines somewhere I probably shouldn’t be. 🌍 Traveling internationally with a logistical plan that looks slightly unhinged on paper… but works. 😅 (Most of the time.) Over the years, I’ve done everything from white-water rafting to scuba diving to swimming with sharks. Which, in hindsight, feels like a very specific brand of decision-making. But here’s the common thread: 🌍 The perspective. ⚡ The edge of discomfort. 🧠 The moment your brain gets very quiet… because it has no other option. That’s the part I chase. Not the activity itself — but the feeling of being fully, undeniably in it. And yes… there’s probably a mild adrenaline situation happening here. Also yes — hindsight continues to suggest that 15 years ago I should’ve cannonballed into that shallow water. Feet first. Helmet on. Growth. 🫠 ADVENTURE IS PERSONAL 🌱 Adventure looks different for everyone. 🌷 Gardening. 📚 Reading in the park. 🍪 Baking cookies with your kids. It’s not about danger. It’s about engagement. It’s about doing something that reminds you you’re alive. WHY ACCESS MAKES SPONTANEITY POSSIBLE 🚐🧠 To get to my adventures, I have to trust my tools. ✈️ I have to fly 🚐 I have to drive 🧠 I have to believe I can say yes without everything turning into a logistical nightmare That’s where the right vehicle — and the right support — matters. 🚐 My van, Scarlett (yes, she has a name), gives me the confidence to move through the world with more ease. ❤️ And working with MobilityWorks has turned spontaneity from theoretical into possible. I don’t take that lightly. 🛏️ After spending seven years largely living in bed, I know how quickly the world can shrink — and how much movement really means. REDEFINING ADVENTURE ✨ When life changes, we don’t ask: ❌ “How do I get my old life back?” We ask: ✅ “What does adventure look like now?” Not happiness — that’s too much pressure. Just happy enough to keep moving forward. FOOD FOR THOUGHT 🌸 I recently listened to a podcast by Mel Robbins featuring research from Cornell University. People in their 80s, 90s, and 100s all said the same thing: ❤️ More family. 🤝 More community. 🌍 More experiences. Spring is a reminder that movement doesn’t have to be dramatic — just intentional. And sometimes, the most spontaneous thing you can do…Is say yes.
