Miss America and All State Ambassadors to Join Salute to Independence Parade Honoring America’s 250th Anniversary [PHILADELPHIA, PA] February 5, 2025 — The Miss America Organization is proud to announce that Miss America 2026 Cassie Donegan and all 52 State Ambassadors will participate in the Salute to Independence Parade—the nation’s largest professionally produced Semiquincentennial celebration parade. The historic event will take place July 3, 2026, in Philadelphia, commemorating 250 years of American independence in the city where the nation was born. Presented as part of Welcome America Inc.’s festival, a 16-day Fourth of July celebration, the parade will feature 250 dynamic elements representing all 50 states and U.S. territories. Highlights include 50 marching bands, 13 floats, military units, special performers, and historical tributes, all traveling through Philadelphia’s iconic streets. Each Miss America State Ambassador will proudly represent her home state through custom, thematic elements celebrating American history, culture, and creativity. All Ambassadors will ride in convertibles wearing show-stopping evening gowns —and unforgettable shoes—in celebration of Miss America’s beloved “Show Us Your Shoes” tradition. The tradition dates back to the 1970s, when Miss America parade spectators noticed delegates wearing slippers—or no shoes at all—and famously called out, “Show us your shoes!” Delegates lifted their feet in response, sparking a joyful moment that became one of the organization’s most iconic and enduring traditions. The celebration continues this fall at the Miss America Competition, when the State Ambassadors return to the runway at the Miss America Gala, held during national competition week. The shoes will be on display to the public throughout the week at the Miss America EXPO, offering fans a closer look at the creativity behind each design. Costumes have long been woven into Miss America’s history, dating back to the earliest parades held alongside the competition. In 1952, Marilyn Monroe became the first female grand marshal of the Miss America parade, and by the 1970s, delegates began pairing elaborate costumes with creative footwear, cementing a tradition that blends artistry, American pride, and celebration. As the oldest pageant in the country and home to the longest-running costume show in pageant history, Miss America proudly enters America’s 250th year by honoring tradition, celebrating creativity, and continuing to inspire generations—on the streets of Philadelphia and beyond. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements as Miss America, an enduring American icon, continues to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Miss America to Serve as Honorary USO Global Ambassador As announced in an exclusive interview with Good Morning America, the Miss America Organization is proud to share that, beginning this year, the newly crowned Miss America will serve as an honorary USO Global Ambassador during her year of service. This alliance reflects Miss America’s long-standing commitment to leadership, service, and making a meaningful impact in communities across the country. “We are grateful to welcome Miss America to be a part of Team USO as an honorary Global Ambassador,” said Lt. Gen. (ret.) Michael Linnington, USO CEO. “Her leadership and dedication to service will help us reach more military families and ensure they feel supported—no matter where they serve.” As an honorary USO Global Ambassador, Miss America will participate in programs, events, and initiatives that directly support military members and their families. Through this collaboration, she will shine a spotlight on the sacrifices of those who serve, inspire others to lead with purpose, and amplify the shared values of service and dedication that define both Miss America and the USO. Miss America has a proud and enduring history with the USO, with service at the very heart of the organization. Long before formal community service initiatives existed, Miss America stood alongside the USO, supporting those who serve our nation. From World War II, when winners like Jean Bartel (Miss America 1943) raised $2.5 million in war bonds and became powerful symbols of patriotism and morale for troops at home and abroad, to the first Miss America USO troupe entertaining service members on the front lines in Vietnam in 1967, Miss America has consistently championed and uplifted the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. “For more than a century, Miss America has used its platform to serve and inspire,” said Robin Fleming, Miss America CEO. “The Honorary USO Global Ambassadorship allows us to continue that legacy, honoring the sacrifices of our service members and empowering women to lead with purpose while supporting those who defend our nation.” “I am deeply honored to partner with the USO as an honorary global ambassador,” said Cassie Donegan Miss America 2026. “My family’s history of military service - from my father to generations before him - has instilled in me a profound appreciation for the men and women who protect our nation. I am grateful for the privilege to support and champion the USO’s mission with the utmost respect and I am humbled to stand alongside an organization dedicated to honoring and supporting those who serve.” Click here to learn more about the shared history of the USO and Miss America: https://lnkd.in/e4UFj-8D

This marks the first time a Miss America will represent at America’s Game. The December 13 matchup continues one of the nation’s most storied traditions, pitting the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (Black Knights) against the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis (Midshipmen). This year marks the rivalry’s 126th meeting and the seventh time the game has been hosted in Baltimore. Miss America 2026 is honored to attend as a guest of USAA, the Presenting Sponsor of the Army–Navy Game and a proud supporter of the matchup since 2009. Miss America 2026 Cassie Donegan joined the American Heart Association, cardiac arrest survivors, healthcare providers and advocates from across the nation on Capitol Hill to call for funding of the HEARTS Act—a bipartisan bill designed to ensure schools across the country are prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies. The HEARTS Act, which passed Congress unanimously, creates a grant program that will enable schools to purchase Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), develop Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERPs), and expand CPR and AED training nationwide. During her visit, Cassie met with leaders such as Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who introduced the HEARTS Act as a co-sponsor, and Senator Charles Schumer to discuss the importance of funding this life-saving legislation. “True change happens when people like us take that legislation and breathe life into it — in our schools, our communities, and our conversations,” Cassie shared. Cassie’s advocacy is deeply personal. Her mother is a multi-stroke and heart attack survivor, inspiring her lifelong commitment to heart health education. Each year, up to 23,000 U.S. children experience cardiac arrest, with student athletes at an even higher risk. In schools equipped with AEDs, 70 percent of children survive cardiac arrest—a rate seven times higher than the national average. Funding the HEARTS Act will help create a Nation of Lifesavers by expanding access to AEDs, increasing CPR education, and empowering every community to act when seconds matter. The American Heart Association’s® Go Red for Women® (GRFW) movement serves as the national health thought leader for Miss America’s Scholarship Foundation Inc. (MASF), providing a platform to advance heart health awareness and education nationwide. “Together, we can ensure every young person grows up not only knowing how to save a life but believing their voice, their action, and their hearts can change the world."
