Most marketing leaders coach from frameworks. Carmela Fortin coaches from the trenches. She's built marketing engines from scratch, led global teams through funding milestones, and served as a fractional CMO across AI and SaaS. She knows what it feels like when the board wants pipeline numbers yesterday and your team is still figuring out who to sell to. That lived pressure shows up in her coaching: calm, practical, and rooted in what works when the stakes are real. As a Latina executive in tech, Carmela brings cultural fluency and clear judgment to leaders navigating complexity, visibility, and ambition. We're proud to name Carmela Fortin Mento's March Coach of the Month. #ExecutiveCoaching #LeadershipDevelopment #CoachSpotlight

Last week, Mento hosted an HR Leadership gathering at the Celtics–Bulls game — it was an epic night (unless you were a Bulls fan 🤕), and one of those evenings that reminded me just how grateful I am to be building Mento. First off, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us. Jamie and I loved meeting and learning from you, both personally and professionally. You taking the time out of your busy schedules to come to a game with us is what allows the Mento community to grow the way it has. Carolyn O'Boyle, Katie Kulikoski, Peter Kennedy, Lisa Abbott, Carrie Walecka, Sylvia Mahlebjian, Chris Keller, we’ll definitely be back in Boston soon! An extra big shoutout to Evan Pierce for sprinkling your magic on the evening. We’ve only been working together for a few months, but it feels like much longer. Grateful we've crossed paths (s/o Matt Hoffman for the intro) and very excited for what’s ahead. On a more personal note — Jamie Albers and I are quietly coming up on our 6-year mark building Mento, which feels surreal to say out loud. There have been countless road trips over the years (customer visits, conferences, fundraising, offsites, you name it), and many of my favorite Mento memories have come from them. On-court at the Celtics game together is definitely up there now too. Excited for many more years of building an enduring business together 📈 Feeling proud, feeling grateful - and still wishing the ball boys let me get my hands on a ball for a 3 pt attempt! 🏀🗑️

Nicole Menkhoff brings a rare combination of depth, steadiness, and edge to her coaching. With 15+ years of experience spanning aerospace, national security, and senior leadership roles at Google, Twitter, Apple, and Ford, she is exceptionally fluent in complexity. What sets Nicole apart is how she meets it. Calm, intuitive, and whole-person focused, she helps high-capacity leaders slow down enough to see clearly and move forward with intention. Nicole excels at coaching moments of transition, when leaders are reimagining success, navigating change, or building something new. She blends root-cause clarity with thoughtful challenge, supporting clients to let go of what no longer serves them while staying anchored in their values. Her presence is grounded, human, and quietly powerful. We're honored to call Nicole Mento's February Coach of the Month. 🥳 #Mento #ExecutiveCoaching #LeadershipDevelopment #CoachSpotlight

Fun night teaming up with our friends at Medley in NYC!
As AI reshapes how we coach and develop leaders, what needs to stay fundamentally human? This week, our CEO Jordan Taylor and Mento co-CEO Alex Marcus hosted a dinner with talent leaders from venture-backed startups, investment firms, and Fortune 500 companies to explore exactly that. A few reflections from the group we’re still thinking about: ‣ AI is a powerful enabler – whether that’s for coaches or coaching – but meaningful growth will still require meaningful human connection: AI is good at analysis, synthesis, and pattern recognition. And yet, lasting development happens when people feel seen, challenged, and supported by others ‣ Openness is the mechanism for growth: the group kept returning to a core truth – growth happens in the uncomfortable pause and the practice of trying new ways of leading with peers ‣ The need for judgment is at an all-time high: As tools get sharper, a leader’s discernment about what’s true, what matters, and what tradeoffs are being made becomes essential After the discussion, we left more convinced that as the toolsets evolve, the human work at the center of leadership development to shape mindsets and skillsets becomes more important, not less. Where is AI adding the most value in how you develop leaders? We'd love to hear more perspectives in the comments below.
