At Matvision, every project starts with a structured feasibility methodology conducted on our industrial test bench in Liège, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Liège. The objective is simple: evaluate recognition performance and operational parameters under controlled yet realistic industrial conditions. Here’s how it works: 1️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 (𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲) The client provides a first batch of manually pre-sorted material (e.g., copper, brass, stainless steel, aluminum alloys). Each class ideally contains around 1,000 representative pieces reflecting the real stream composition. This dataset allows us to train and calibrate multi-sensor classification models. 2️⃣ 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Materials are processed through our test bench combining spectral, X-ray, geometric and density-related measurements. We assess which sensor combinations truly create meaningful separation — and which add limited value. 3️⃣ 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀) A second, mixed batch is processed at target conveyor speeds, realistic feeding density and maximum robot pick rates. We measure: • Recovery rate per material • Purity of output fractions • Achievable throughput • Robot utilization This delivers quantitative performance data for the exact stream under evaluation. 4️⃣ 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 Importantly, feasibility is not about maximizing technical complexity. It’s about defining an economically justified sensor configuration. Sometimes limited sensing already achieves strong separation. Sometimes additional modalities create marginal but valuable improvements. 5️⃣ 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 From there, we can define : • Required sensor stack • Number of robotic units • Separation strategy • Estimated throughput This enables recyclers to model ROI based on measured data → not assumptions. 🤖 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 ? 2025. From Vision to Momentum. An intense, demanding, and incredibly rewarding year for Matvision. It was a year full of progress, victories, and learning moments. The kind that shape a company far beyond numbers and milestones. Over the past months, we moved from early-stage ambition to concrete validation, step by step strengthening both our technology and our positioning in the market. ⭐️ One of the major highlights of the year was the signing of 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. A key signal that our vision, our technology, and our approach resonate with real industrial needs. At the same time, we had the opportunity to engage with numerous potential investors and secure fundings to support the growth of our team and our vision for the coming years. 2025 was also a year of visibility and conviction. We pitched Matvision on multiple stages, sometimes in front of hundreds, sometimes thousands of people, sharing not only what we are building, but why it matters. Each pitch helped us refine our message, sharpen our value proposition, and better understand the expectations of the market. Beyond the headlines, this year brought clarity. A clearer understanding of our targets, our priorities, and the challenges specific to our sector. A stronger alignment between technology, market reality, and industrial execution. Looking back, 2025 feels like a turning point : the year where ideas matured into direction, and direction turned into momentum. Matvision On Tour ♻️ Last week, our CEO was in Rimini for ECOMONDO - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP. Ecomondo is the benchmark event in Europe for technological and industrial innovation for circular economy. 𝗪𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺. ☀ Robert made great connections during the trade and came back with a luggage full of business cards.
