What if our pets are our everyday wellbeing superheroes? We’re excited to share “Behind the Bond” - a new series exploring the powerful role everyday moments with our pets play in supporting our wellbeing. Built on findings from Mars Pets and Wellbeing Study (PAWS) program, the series brings expert voices and real world stories together to deepen understanding of the human-animal bond and demonstrate how the relationship with pets can improve everyday wellbeing. This week, Mars UK took a powerful step toward unlocking an often-overlooked talent pool, with a training session focusing on hiring talent from the ex-military community and their spouses. Hosted by the Forces Employment Charity, the Mars Military Friends and Family ARG deepened their understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans, including high unemployment rates and a critical skills gap. This presents a meaningful opportunity for employers like Mars to make a positive impact. A key takeaway was the recognition that military skills are highly transferable to civilian roles, bringing exceptional discipline, leadership, and problem-solving abilities to the workplace. The training also provided us with valuable strategies to overcome common biases when reviewing military CVs, enabling us to better identify and appreciate the true potential of this talented community. In 2025, Mars UK proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing our commitment to supporting veterans and their families. From encouraging us to step outside to helping us switch off from screens, pets aren’t just companions; they are everyday pillars of our wellbeing.    Mars’ Pets and Wellbeing Study (PAWS) program brings scientific scale to what many pet owners feel instinctively. This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to celebrate the women who are actively helping to protect our oceans.    Last year, Mars Sustainable Solutions (MSS) brought together women from across Indonesia and beyond for a five-day coral reef restoration training, focused on learning restoration skills and building community.   From planting 9,000 coral fragments to forming lasting cross-cultural connections, these women are showing what’s possible when knowledge, opportunity and leadership are shared.   At Mars, we’re committed to strengthening local communities and helping create a more sustainable future for people, pets and the planet. #TomorrowStartsToday #ProudlyMars
