About us
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children fighting critical illnesses in Maryland, D.C. and northern Virginia. Founded in 1983, Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic has granted over 12,000 wishes in the Mid-Atlantic region since its inception. This year alone, 840 local children are expected to be diagnosed with a critical illness. However, for every wish granted, at least one local child is waiting. The community has the opportunity to make an impact today by helping Make-A-Wish to reach hundreds of kids whose wishes would go otherwise go unanswered this year. When Asher was diagnosed with cancer, his life became filled with hospital stays, treatments and missed moments at home with his two brothers. But through it all, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse brought him comfort during his toughest days. So, when it came time to choose his wish, Asher knew exactly what he wanted: to give Mickey Mouse a big hug. 🤗 Asher’s wish was more than just a joyful moment, it was a turning point in his medical journey. Seven-year-old Olivia from Rockville, Maryland, lights up every room she enters. Living with a respiratory disorder hasn’t dimmed her spirit—in fact, it’s only made her resilience and positivity shine even brighter. In recent months, Olivia has discovered a new passion that has completely transformed her winter experiences: adaptive skiing. 🛷 What started as a family outing during winter break quickly became something much more meaningful. With the help of specialized equipment and instruction, Olivia has found a sense of freedom on the slopes that she hadn’t experienced before. ❄️ Gliding through the snow alongside her family, she laughs, explores, and pushes past limitations in a way that feels both empowering and joyful.
