Too often, corporate learning is reactive: – a crash course when regulations change, – a tool training just before rollout, – a frantic „booster” when performance drops. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭‑𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐱𝐞𝐬. They come from consistent practice, reflection, and reinforcement. The first school week is almost over. I watched the little ones walking into school for the very first time this week – eyes wide open, full of emotions, curiosity, amazement, and maybe just a bit of fear. And I kept thinking: 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝? It’s the same question we face in workplace learning. ➡️ The kick-off of a new program often sparks energy, but soon routine takes over. ➡️ The real challenge (and opportunity) is not just to start strong, but to sustain engagement until learning becomes part of who we are. I keep seeing microlearning praised as the magic cure for shrinking attention spans. 𝐔𝐧𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧: that’s the easy story and it misses the real issue. We live in an era of constant information bombardment. Notifications, feeds, meetings, content everywhere. As a result, people have built stronger filters. 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫��𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲? 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨.  𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞? 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐞.  Because dozens of stimuli are competing for our attention every second. That means a 60‑second microlearning clip that’s irrelevant will be ignored just as quickly as a 60‑minute training that’s irrelevant. Short doesn’t equal effective. ⛔ Attention span isn’t the real problem. ✅ Relevance is. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 “𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.” 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. Whether it’s microlearning, a workshop, or a full curriculum, the same principle applies: 👉Make it a decision point, not an info dump 👉Show an immediate benefit: “What can I do differently right now?” 👉Use adaptivity or smart delivery so only what matters reaches the learner When content is relevant, people stay with it, no matter the format.
