A major study tracking 80,000+ people shows that knowing several languages can help to maintain brain health through the years. And our reaction to this groundbreaking news? We're delighted of course but not at all surprised. For years now, we've been welcoming increasing numbers of older language learners and with amazing results. We've also seen how a student body that spans several generations is more vibrant and enriching for everyone. Our 20-something students swap travel tips or tech advice with 60 or even 70-something classmates while our more mature students offer informed perspectives on sorts of topics from relationships to career choices. And sometimes, it's the other way around. This week at the language travel sector's largest conference, our KLG Team experienced the magic that only happens when passionate professionals come together. Yes, our colleagues talked themselves dry discussing new products and partner plans for 2026. But it was so much more than business. Whether exploring possibilities with potential new partners or the long-established ones, these conversations remind us why we're in this industry: to transform lives and continue to build intercultural understanding through education. We were especially excited to see the enthusiasm for our relaunched Academic Year Abroad program - offered for 6, 9 or 11 months in 20 destinations. The energy in those conference halls simply can't be replicated on video calls. To all our partners, old and new and to ICEF: thank you for sharing your time and your energy with us. It all started with a simple pie chart showing our KLG London office team's incredible diversity – with over 20 nationalities represented. Then someone had an idea: "Why don't we celebrate this with a potluck lunch?" And yesterday for a period of one hour, our office transformed itself into a mini international food festival. Among the delicacies we enjoyed were perogis and sour cream, a pickles, ham and potato salad, Alfajores de maicena, couscous and tomato salad, lox (smoked salmon) and cream cheese bagels, a puffed rice and peanut dish called bhel puri, sausage rolls, a mango and melon platter, baklava in 5 different flavours and a basque cheese cake that was so delicious we didn't have time to photograph it before it disappeared (All that remained was a lonely sticky note on an empty platter). World Mental Health Day is a great opportunity to reflect on the things that make us happy and keep our heads healthy. The variety of things you can do when you study at Kaplan to balance study and relaxation is endless: You can go outside to enjoy wild swimming in a canyon near Vancouver, practise your downward dog on a Californian beach, stride up steep hills in Edinburgh to take a look at the view or inside a Kaplan school, salsa dance with new friends or try out some meditation. Our London-based colleague Michelle Albert had some some wise advice for us earlier today which we're happy to share. "Today, be intentional about showing yourself a little self-love. It doesn’t have to be big or complicated — just something that makes you feel seen, cared for, and grounded. ✨ Take your walk more mindfully — phone away, just you and the moment. ✨ Speak a kind word to yourself — remind yourself that you are enough, just as you are. ✨ Do something that brings you joy — make your favourite meal, light that candle, rest without guilt. Self-love looks different for everyone, and that’s the beauty of it. Whatever you choose, do it with kindness and intention." #KaplanKindness #WorldMentalHealthDay
