Women now outnumber men at the polls. Yet the right to vote for women in the United States was only secured with the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, following decades of advocacy, protest, and persistence. The suffrage movement serves as a powerful example of how constitutional change often reflects sustained civic engagement and public pressure. As Women’s History Month comes to a close, it offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how rights are established and how those conversations continue to evolve. #Education #Teacher #Teaching #Learning #Resources

Medal of Honor Day is an opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary courage shown by those who have received the United States’ highest military decoration. One important context often overlooked is this: the United States maintains an all-volunteer military. Service members choose to step forward—motivated by duty, opportunity, family tradition, or a desire to serve something larger than themselves. They willingly accept the risks that come with defending the country. That choice makes the acts recognized by the Medal of Honor even more profound. Today we honor their service, sacrifice, and the commitment of all who volunteer to serve. #Education #History #Service #Leadership

Economist Hernando de Soto is once again in the global spotlight, having been briefly tapped to help lead Peru’s transitional government amid significant political instability. His work on property rights, entrepreneurship, and economic development has long shaped conversations around globalization. And those ideas are directly explored in izzit’s Markets Without Borders 45-Minute Lesson. In this lesson, students examine why entrepreneurship exists across the world, yet economic opportunity often does not. Through examples from Tanzania and Peru, de Soto highlights the role of legal systems, property rights, and institutions in enabling participation in the global economy. It’s a timely opportunity to connect current events to foundational economic concepts in a meaningful, classroom-ready way. Molly Pitcher is often remembered for carrying water to soldiers during the American Revolution—but her story goes further. She stepped in during moments of need, demonstrating not only resilience, but compassion under pressure. In Pups of Liberty: Short Tails, her story is reimagined through Collie Pitcher, helping students connect historical events with the virtue of compassion. As we approach America250 this approach highlights an important idea: history is not only about what happened, but also about the values demonstrated along the way. One of the most powerful ways to build global awareness in students is exposure to different places, cultures, and systems. But international travel isn’t exactly practical for most classrooms. The Virtual International Field Trip helps bridge that gap by allowing students to explore 17 destinations around the world while examining culture, economics, government, and trade. It’s a simple way to expand students’ global perspective—without leaving the classroom.
