The UK’s Cyber Security and Resilience Bill has now concluded Committee scrutiny. Cyber governance was at the front and center of the debate throughout the process. During Tuesday’s session, David Chadwick MP tabled for discussion two amendments to the Bill: ❗️Mandating active board oversight and accountability from boards and organizations ❗️Establishing the required bodies to carry out periodic testing to ensure digital systems are prepared for real world attacks. ISACA welcomes these amendments. Cybersecurity and resilience is an organizational responsibility and cannot sit solely with the IT teams on the ground. When whole organizations are actively engaged, it ensures risks are understood at the highest level and embedded into governance and strategy. As David Chadwick said, ISACA’s members are the people who will actually be doing this work - “they'll be the ones carrying it out and surely we should be listening to them when they tell us that this is what they need.” Our members are the practitioners delivering this work every day, but cyber resilience starts in the boardroom. If the Bill is to strengthen UK resilience, it must embed accountability at the top and ensure regular testing in practice, not just on paper. #ISACA #CyberSecurity #CyberSecurityAndResilienceBill #Governance
