Semiconductor fabs depend on incredibly advanced technologies to build chips—but without the basic infrastructure, chips simply couldn’t be manufactured. One of the most critical components is the vacuum system. In modern semiconductor manufacturing, processes like deposition, etching, and ion implantation all take place in highly controlled vacuum environments. These vacuum chambers allow engineers to control contamination, pressure, and particle behavior at extremely precise levels. Without stable and reliable vacuum systems, it’s impossible to produce the precision structures that power today’s electronics. Behind every vacuum chamber, however, is a complex infrastructure of pumps, valves, gauges, seals, and control systems. Maintaining these systems requires skilled technicians who understand not just how to operate the equipment, but the underlying principles of vacuum technology—pressure regimes, leak detection, pump types, and system diagnostics. As new semiconductor fabs are being built across the United States, the demand for technicians who can support this infrastructure is growing rapidly. But vacuum technology is often missing in traditional technical education programs. That creates a gap between what fabs need and what many technicians have been trained to do. If we want to build a sustainable semiconductor workforce, training programs must include hands-on experience with the real technologies used in fabs—including vacuum systems. When technicians understand how vacuum systems work, they can troubleshoot faster, maintain uptime, and protect the incredibly sensitive processes happening inside those chambers. Intelitek understands the needs of industry and has developed a state of the art training curriculum and hands on lab for vacuum technology training. Semiconductor fabs are popping up everywhere. But the real question for schools is: what are you doing about it? CTE and high school leaders are hearing the same message on repeat — “the semiconductor industry is booming.” Yet turning that headline into a real, affordable program for students is not simple. Most schools face three big challenges: What should we teach? The semiconductor industry is massive, fast-moving, and often hard to decode. What do employers actually want from graduates? How can we afford it? Vendors are offering programs that cost millions of dollars and most districts don’t have that level of funding. Will this truly help students? Will it lead to jobs, credentials, or real pathways into higher education and long-term careers? At Intelitek, we built our high school semiconductor training program by starting with these exact questions. We hired semiconductor subject-matter experts, spoke directly with employers, and applied over 40 years of experience in advanced manufacturing and CTE training. The result? A Semiconductor Launchpad designed specifically for high schools. This program: Introduces students to real fab environments Prepares them for semiconductor maintenance technician roles Builds industry-aligned skills and credentials Reduces onboarding time for employers Fits within real school constraints — time, space, and budget Even better, the program dovetails into community college and degree pathways, allowing schools to align with local partners and create credit-bearing opportunities. For students, this means: • A direct path to employment • Or a pathway to higher education • And a foundation for a career in advanced technology For schools, it means: • Stronger workforce alignment • A refreshed, future-ready CTE offering • Increased student engagement and enrollment For employers, it means: • A pipeline of skilled, motivated entry-level talent That’s a win for everyone. If you’re ready to turn the semiconductor boom into real student opportunity, let’s talk. Comment below or send a message to learn more.

Every year in February, ACTE and their partners celebrate CTE Month to highlight the accomplishments of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and the importance of CTE for all students of all ages. CTE Month honors the schools, the teachers, and the students who investing in building the backbone of the economy and helping grow industry in their states. This year ACTE celebrates its 100th anniversary. Intelitek is proud to have supported the education ecosystem for over 40 years with CTE training solutions for advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and now for Semiconductor. #CTEmonth #workforcedevelopment #jobs #AdvancedManufacturing #Intelitek

The semiconductor industry is built on precision — and training should be too. At Intelitek, our semiconductor programs use real-world, industrial equipment so learners gain hands-on experience with the same tools and processes found in modern fabs. This is how you build a workforce that’s ready on day one. No guesswork. No “theoretical only” learning. Just real skills for real careers. This is the Yaskawa EFEM – this is a real EFEM, with a real wafer handling robot, with a real pre-aligner, load ports and a load lock. Students learn to use, operate, maintain and troubleshoot a real semiconductor system with this in their lab. #Semiconductors #HandsOnTraining #FutureOfWork #AdvancedManufacturing #Intelitek

At Intelitek, our semiconductor training program is built around authentic, industry-grade equipment that mirrors what students encounter inside real fabs. Learners don’t just study concepts — they operate, troubleshoot, and practice with the same types of systems used in advanced manufacturing today. Why? Because having experience with real equipment prepares them better for the job, because having hands on experience bridges the gap between the class and the fab floor, because employers want candidates that are more qualified and can be productive team players quicker. As the demand for semiconductor talent continues to surge, hands-on training with real equipment is no longer a “nice to have” — it’s essential. In this video we are showing the EFEM we use in our training to teach semiconductor robotics, and advanced wafer handling. #Semiconductors #AdvancedManufacturing #WorkforceDevelopment #CTE #Microelectronics #Intelitek
