  • Americans are using AI, but they're not sure they trust it. A new YouGov survey of 2,474 U.S. adults reveals a growing gap between AI adoption and public confidence in the technology. Three key findings: 💡 63% use AI at least occasionally, yet only 5% trust it "a lot" and 41% express outright distrust 💡 51% of Gen Z uses AI weekly, compared to 25% of Baby Boomers, though skepticism spans all age groups 💡 Only 18% would trust an AI system to make a decision or take action on their behalf The takeaway for communicators? Familiarity alone won't build public confidence. Organizations deploying AI need proactive, transparent communication about how it is used and overseen. 👉 Read the full findings: https://lnkd.in/g_t-X9Bq

The Institute for Public Relations gave Olivia K. Fajardo, and me 27 minutes and a room full of amazing communicators last week at the Bridge Conference at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We tried to make it worth their time. What we presented: a look at four years of Integral Employee Activation Index data — 8,000+ U.S. employees — cut by age cohort to surface what generational differences actually look like in the workforce, as opposed to what people assume they look like. The assumptions, it turns out, don't hold up well. A few things surprised the room: Younger employees (18–34) reported the strongest values alignment with their organizations — not older ones. The same cohort is also the most likely to share both positive and negative experiences publicly, with the gap between those two behaviors smaller than you'd expect. And when we asked people to predict which age group suffers most from Sunday Scaries anxiety, nearly everyone in the room got it wrong. What I find most energizing about working with IPR isn't just the research rigor — it's the smarts of the network. People who understand what it means to draw an inference from data, and who push back when you overreach. That kind of (positive!) peer pressure makes the work better -- and it's why Integral offered years of our data for IPR's thoughtful analysis. The 2026 Integral Index will be out in late April. If you want early access, the link is in the comments. Even better, IPR will soon publish the research brief Olivia and I based our presention on. Thanks to Olivia and the IPR team for the collaboration, and to everyone who stayed awake after lunch. Oh, and the three cheesecake winners know who they are...check your mail! 🍰 🍰 🍰

  • The IPR Bridge Social is always one of our favorite moments of the conference. 🥂 After a full day of learning, it’s the perfect time to network and reconnect with fellow IPR members, attendees, and speakers. This year, we gathered at The Carolina Inn to enjoy festive, Southern-inspired bites, cocktails, and mocktails. It was a fun way to cap off an incredible day at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Swipe to see the winners of this year’s bingo drawing! 😊
