“Graduation is both a celebration of how far you have come and the beginning of what comes next. Your achievements reflect the dedication and curiosity that will drive the future of technology. As you step into this next chapter, IEEE is here to support your continued growth, offering a global community and opportunities to connect, collaborate and make a meaningful impact. I look forward to seeing all that you will accomplish.” -Mary Ellen Randall, 2026 IEEE President & CEO

  • Building on the success of their 2024 STEM workshop in Puebla, Mexico, IEEE REACH and IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT) partnered again for a second event in September 2025. Held alongside the IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society 2025, this hands-on workshop took place aboard the historic USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum in Alameda, California, USA, bringing STEM learning to life in a truly unique setting. The success of these events has shown that when students explore technology through a historical and social lens, curiosity deepens and engagement grows. Understanding how technology shapes their lives inspires them to imagine their own role in the future of STEM. These impactful experiences are made possible by dedicated volunteers and generous supporters. Thank you to all who helped bring this workshop to life. Read more: https://loom.ly/qDd2ZuU

  • In many developing countries including India, unauthorized waste dumping remains a significant challenge. Recent research indicates that a large majority of municipal solid waste is improperly disposed of—posing serious risks to both environmental and public health. A student team from the Department of Computer Science & Technology at Manav Rachna University is working to change that through their EPICS in IEEE project. Their innovative drone- and AI-driven system is designed to identify Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) in real time, enabling local authorities to respond more quickly and effectively to waste management challenges. By combining technology with community impact, these students are helping create cleaner, healthier environments, while demonstrating the power of engineering to address global challenges.

  • The Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award has reached endowed status, securing its future and ensuring continued recognition of excellence in the field. This important milestone was made possible through $330,000 in committed pledges from ten of Professor Edward J. McCluskey’s former Stanford Ph.D. students. Led by Laung-Terng Wang, these donors came together to honor their advisor’s enduring influence while giving back to the technical community that helped shape their own journeys. A pioneer in electrical engineering and computer science, Professor McCluskey’s contributions—from the development of the Quine–McCluskey algorithm to his role as the first president of the IEEE Computer Society—continue to shape modern digital systems. Equally impactful was his legacy as a mentor, guiding more than 75 Ph.D. students. Through this fund, his commitment to technical rigor, innovation, and education will continue to inspire and be recognized for generations to come.

  • IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu continues to empower student leadership and innovation around the world. In November 2025, the Nu Zeta Chapter at Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) made history by organizing AeroTech Summit 2025—the first university-level conference in Ecuador dedicated entirely to aerospace technology and innovation. Supported in part by an IEEE-HKN Chapter Support Grant and organized in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch, the summit brought together students, industry, and academia to advance scientific exchange, strengthen partnerships, and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. Managed by the IEEE Foundation, the IEEE-HKN Student Chapter Support Fund helps equip chapters with the resources, training, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. We look forward to the continued impact of these global student communities as they shape the future of engineering. #IAmHKN #IEEEStudents

  • The 2026 IEEE Honors Ceremony, a celebration of global engineering and technology excellence, has resulted in significant new philanthropic commitments, driving next-generation innovation. IEEE Medal of Honor recipient Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, donated his award, matched by the Jen‑Hsun and Lori Huang Foundation, to support graduate scholarships and IEEE TryEngineering STEM programs. NVIDIA co-founder Chris A. Malachowsky, who received the 2026 IEEE Robert N. Noyce Medal for his pioneering parallel computing architectures and leadership in semiconductor design, also donated his cash award. In addition to these extraordinary gifts, four other 2026 honorees chose to donate a portion of their cash awards to social impact programs at IEEE. This generosity embodies the ceremony's central theme, “Intersections,” by connecting today’s esteemed innovators with the future builders of technology. Thank you to all the medal recipients who are advancing technology and creating global social impact. Read more about this announcement here: https://loom.ly/qKFmNyk
