The average knowledge employeee visits eleven apps a day. David Shim wants AI to connect the dots between all of them.
On the latest GAEA Talks, recorded live at HumanX 2026, Graeme Scott
Graeme Scott sits down with David Shim, co-founder and CEO of Read AI. David previously founded Placed, led Foursquare and has now built Read AI into one of the fastest-growing productivity platforms in the world over five million monthly active users and trusted by major enterprise customers.
The conversation covers how Read AI has evolved from meeting notetaker to full AI assistant, the concept of a "digital twin" that captures your working style and knowledge, and why multiplayer AI across teams unlocks far more value than single-player tools ever will.
A practical look at where workplace AI is actually headed.

Every function in a large enterprise has its own data. Nobody has the full picture. Bianca Diana Anghelina built AILY LABS to change that.
On the latest GAEA Talks, recorded live at HumanX 2026, Graeme Scott sits down with the founder and CEO of Aily Labs, the decision intelligence platform connecting data across the entire value chain of global enterprises. Bianca spent a decade in the corporate world, including leading global digital finance and AI transformation at Novartis, and saw firsthand how siloed data leads to slow, fragmented decisions. Aily Labs brings it all together so that everyone from the C-suite to the frontline gets real-time, personalised insights, not just dashboards.
The company has been profitable since year one, scaled from three to over 300 employees, and counts major Fortune 500 companies as customers.

GAEA Talks has had the privilege of sitting down with some of the most original thinkers in AI this year.
From Bank of England leaders to Disney Imagineering legends, from sovereign AI architects to the founders building the next wave of agentic platforms, every guest has shaped how we think about where this technology is heading.
We record GAEA Talks in two settings. Our flagship long-form conversations are filmed in our London studios. Alongside those, we have recorded our GAEA Talks Live series direct from the floor of HumanX in San Francisco, capturing some of the most exciting AI founders and operators in the world in real time.
We have just launched a new home for the podcast. Every episode, every guest, every essay, all in one place.
To explore the full line-up of past and upcoming guests, head over to the new GAEA Talks site: https://gaeatalks.ai/en-us
Thank you to every guest who has joined us so far, and to every listener who keeps coming back episode after episode. This conversation is only getting more interesting.

This episode of GAEA Talks Live from HumanX with David Shim was one of the most enjoyable conversations I have recorded in a long time.
David is the co-founder and CEO of Read AI, the multimodal meeting intelligence platform now used by close to five million people, with forty to fifty thousand new sign-ups every single day. Before Read he was CEO of Foursquare and the founder of Placed, the location analytics pioneer that Snap Inc. acquired in 2017. The part of his story that most people do not know is that he was emancipated from his parents at seventeen so he could legally become one of the youngest registered stockbrokers in the United States. As a child of Korean immigrants he was already buying candy at wholesale from his parents' grocery store and selling it at school for margin. He has been spotting arbitrage opportunities his whole life.
A few moments that stand out:
The narration layer of AI. Read AI is not just transcribing what is said in your meetings. It is reading how people react, where they engage and where they tune out. That is a more honest signal of what really matters in a meeting than the words themselves.
The Digital Twin product, codenamed Ada. The next generation of AI agents will not be chatbots you have to open and prompt. They will be an email address, a Slack handle and a Teams alias that can answer for you and move your work forward while you are on holiday. The end of the out-of-office message is closer than people think.
The sidebar pattern. A good AI agent does not just send what it is told to send. It checks in with you when something is sensitive. A beautifully human design principle.
His view that the magic is gone for developed markets. In 2026, the most practical AI adoption is now happening in emerging markets where the use case is squeezing every minute of productivity out of every day. A quiet but enormous shift.
The TikTok meets Tinder analogy for the next breakthrough in consumer AI. Three seconds of attention, swipe right or swipe left, the algorithm does the rest. That is what mass market AI will start to feel like.
The dementia user story. A man with early-onset dementia uses Read AI to recall what his family told him on their last call, so he can ask his grandchildren how the baseball game went. One of the most human use cases for AI I have heard on the podcast.
David's closing advice. Embrace failure. The fear of failure is the biggest waste you can have. If you wait for perfection, twelve other companies will have launched something good enough while you wait.
This conversation is a brilliant snapshot of where AI is genuinely heading. Practical, human, slightly chaotic, and a lot of fun.

When three terabytes of data can be stolen in 39 seconds, the traditional defense playbook has to change.
Wendi Whitmore recently joined HumanX to explain why the real AI threat is not clunky malware but the terrifying efficiency of the operation itself. From audio deepfakes to automated social engineering, the gap between detection and disaster is closing faster than ever.

What's the most powerful statement leaders can make in 2026?
"I don’t know."
Today, leadership means being vulnerable. It requires creating a safe place where real dialog is encouraged. Nobody has "all the answers" about what's ahead. Everyone is processing the same uncertainty. It can be a source of anxiety or optimism.
Stefan Weitz, HumanX#CEO and long-time Microsoft exec, dedicated his career to solving problems with technology. Now he's using it to create a safe place where #AI leaders can engage, debate, and learn.
Stefan brought #Bing and #Windows to market with Bill Gates and #SteveBallmer. He's an expert in navigating generational tech shifts. Now he's solving a harder problem.
In this special (live!) episode of #AI and the #FutureOfWork from the floor of #HumanX in SF, we discussed the founding vision that led to one of the most disruptive, buzzy, successful tech events ever.
Learn from Stefan...
↗️ The "I Don’t Know" Advantage: Why humility is a strategic leadership tool.
↗️ The Danger of Big Tech Distribution: Why tech giants risk losing the AI race if they lean entirely on distribution.
↗️ The Threat of Anthropomorphizing AI: Why framing AI as "human" creates unnecessary fear, resistance, and mistrust.
↗️ Adaptation vs. Evolution: How the unprecedented speed of AI’s growth is threatening to outpace human ability.
Stefan's humble and brilliant. He's creating a movement you'll be hearing more about soon.
