Light does more than illuminate a space - it shapes how people experience it. Lighting reveals form, creates unique atmospheres, and transforms buildings into environments that are both functional and inviting. In our latest blog, our explore how architectural lighting blends technical precision with creative expression, and why early collaboration and intentional design can make a big impact on the success of a space. A new home for pediatric care is taking shape in St. Louis. SSM Health is building a new SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, continuing a mission that began in 1956 as the nation’s first freestanding, not‑for‑profit Catholic pediatric hospital - serving children and families across the region for generations. The 14‑story hospital is being designed with patients and families in mind, combining advanced pediatric care with spaces that feel more comfortable, welcoming, and supportive. Designed by HKS, Inc. and Lawrence Group, and delivered by McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., the new facility will include specialized intensive care units, family‑focused spaces, and room to grow as care needs evolve. #TeamHenderson is providing MEP and fire protection services, helping support a reliable, flexible building built for the long term. Scheduled to open in late 2027, the new hospital represents an important investment in the future of pediatric care for St. Louis and the surrounding region. Most engineers don't lack intelligence. They lack a clear strategy for where AI fits and where it doesn't. That's the conversation we had on the latest episode of the AEC AI & Tech Strategy Podcast with Dustin Schafer, PE, Head of Research at Henderson Engineers. Dustin has spent 25+ years in the building systems industry, and he's doing something rare: translating what AI tools can do into what AEC firms actually need them to do. In Episode 109, he and host Nick Heim, PE break down: • Why AI excels at structured workflows, but struggles the moment judgment enters the room • How to separate your IT team from your business application team (and why it matters) • The #1 first step for firms that want to start using AI without exposing confidential client data • Why curiosity may be the most valuable skill your engineers can develop right now Here's what stood out: AI doesn't remove professional responsibility. Engineers still own every decision. What AI does is free up capacity, so your best people can focus on the work that actually requires them. That's not a threat. That's an opportunity. 🎧 Listen to Episode 109 now: https://hubs.la/Q04h_X-t0 What's your firm's approach to AI strategy right now? Drop it below, we'd love to hear what's working.

New Athletics ballpark loading…🏗️⚾ Set to open for the 2028 Major League Baseball (MLB) season, the new ballpark will sit between Tropicana and Reno Avenues and hold 33,000 fans, featuring an expansive cable-net glass wall that frames panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip. Designed by BIG in collaboration with HNTB, the covered ballpark is accentuated by five overlapping roofs resembling baseball pennants, shielding fans and players from direct sunlight while still allowing filtered natural light to stream in through clerestory windows. Inspired by the intimacy of historic ballparks like Fenway and Wrigley, the tiered design brings fans closer to home plate, with clear sight lines from every seat in the split upper and lower bowls. 🎥 Athletics Thornton Tomasetti Henderson Engineers Creative Artists Agency ICON #Mortenson McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Leisure travel spending is set to triple by 2040, and the demand for luxury airport lounges is taking off with it. A new home for Detroit City FC. ⚽ AlumniFi Field is bringing a 15,000‑seat stadium to Detroit, designed to match the energy of the club and its fans. With canopied grandstands and a layout inspired by classic European venues, the goal is to create a loud, close‑to-the-action experience on matchday. The stadium will be built on the site of the former Southwest Detroit Hospital, with plans to honor its history while creating a new space for the community to come together - on and off the field. Alongside HOK, Barton Malow, and Thornton Tomasetti, #TeamHenderson provided MEP services to support the performance and flexibility of a venue designed for both matchday intensity and year-round community use.
