We know caregiving is more than just a job – it’s a purpose-filled career that makes a difference in the lives of aging populations across the country who want to live as independently as possible in their own homes – not in a nursing home.  Along with the rewards of caregiving, the profession is not always easy. Caring for vulnerable individuals can be stressful at times.  As we recognize May as Mental Health Month, it’s an opportunity for us to also recognize the importance of providing ongoing and intentional support for the mental wellbeing of our 60,000 caregivers. More and more vulnerable populations rely on Home and Community-based Services (HCBS) for vital support to live their daily lives as they age in place in their own homes.   The recent story reported in The Hill ( 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dnpByyci) involving the passing of Gene Hackman and his wife demonstrates the vital role caregiving for seniors and disabled individuals plays in today’s society – and that the need impacts all demographics. Meeting the continued demands of our country’s aging population requires a compassionate and purpose-driven care workforce of professionals who are themselves supported by a culture of caring.  At Help at Home, we take our responsibility seriously and are committed to advancing home care for the better.
