Updates

  • We’re thrilled to celebrate the upcoming opening of the Pāpāmoa East Interchange (PEI), a greatly anticipated roading project that has progressed through multiple phases of construction.   The piece of infrastructure is a major boost for one of Tauranga’s fastest growing communities and one we’ve had the privilege to deliver in partnership with our client Tauranga City Council (TCC).  Our team was on site for the dawn blessing to acknowledge the completion of the three‑phase construction programme that began in July 2022. The four‑lane, $90m interchange is now ready to go and will open to traffic this month. Delivered by HEB Construction for TCC, and in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA), this new connection will give Pāpāmoa a faster, more direct route to Tauranga CBD, Mount Maunganui and the wider Bay of Plenty. It will ease congestion, support future growth and create a smoother daily journey for people travelling in and out of Pāpāmoa East. A huge congratulations to our HEB team for delivering a quality piece of infrastructure for Pāpāmoa. #TeamHEB #PapamoaEast #InfrastructureNZ #BayOfPlenty #BetterConnections

  • A big day in Drury celebrating the official start of the main works for the Waihoehoe Road upgrade project. This is an exciting moment for a fast-growing part of southern Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, and a project that will make it easier for people and freight to move around the area in the future.  The upgrade includes a new, higher bridge over the rail line, safer intersections, additional lanes and separated walking and cycling paths. With more than 120,000 people expected to live in the wider Drury area over the next 30 years, these improvements will help the transport network keep pace with growth.  This work builds on HEB’s wider role across Drury, including recent civil projects at Drury, Paerātā and Ngākōroa Stations.  Project Manager John Pritchard says:  ‘We have completed enabling works over the last two holiday blocks of line, and we are excited to support the region and build on the relationships we have developed.’  It’s a good day for our team and partners as we get this work underway and support better connections across Drury and be doing it so close to where HEB began with our original office just a stone’s throw away. 🤝  https://lnkd.in/ePwcq2Am  #TeamHEB #AucklandGrowth #TransportChoices #Drury #SodTurning

  • We love seeing the progress on Te Ara Ki Uta Ki Tai and the excitement building across Tāmaki Makaurau. Great to see Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson on-site with Auckland Transport checking in on the new Hobson Bay boardwalk, which is well on its way to connecting Purewa Bridge and Onepū Whakatakataka Reserve. This final link will complete the 7km shared path from Glen Innes Station to Tāmaki Drive, creating a safer, more accessible walking and cycling route for our communities. Looking forward to seeing this milestone come to life!

We were thrilled to have Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson join us onsite to see progress on the boardwalk. Desley visited our Purewa Bridge worksite adjacent to Ōrākei Road. Construction of the boardwalk started at both Purewa Bridge and Onepu Whakatakataka Reserve in June last year (2025), and the two construction crews will meet in the middle in July/ August this year. The team will then complete the connections to the existing paths on Ōrākei Road and Ngapipi Road and the fit out which includes installing the balustrades, lighting, CCTV, landscaping and mahi toi from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. Te Ara Ki Uta Ki Tai – the path of land to sea – is a 7km long shared path from Merton Road near Glen Innes Station to Tāmaki Drive. It has been built in four sections. The boardwalk we are constructing in Hobson Bay is the final stage of the project. Learn more here AT.govt.nz/easternpath

The first section of Te Whau Pathway is complete!    We have just completed the first major connection on the Te Whau Pathway Project, and we are thrilled with what has been delivered. This 1.35 km section in Te Atatū South will connect Roberts Road to the SH16 Shared Use Pathway. For the first time, people can walk, cycle and explore right along the edge of the Whau River, with views across the mangroves, connections to local parks and links into spaces that have been hidden from public access for decades.  The opening of this new section is another step closer to accomplishing the wider vision to create a pathway that will link the Manukau Harbour to the Waitematā Harbour, restoring a historic portage used for generations. This achievement has been made possible through strong collaboration between HEB, Client Auckland Council and design partners Beca and LandLab, supported by a team who brought care, commitment and a shared sense of purpose to the project. Their pride in this first section is well deserved. The team is ready to keep the momentum going, work now moves on to Section 2 in Avondale, which will introduce two new boardwalk areas and further pathway connections between Ken Maunder Park and Wingate Street.  A big congratulations to everyone involved. This is a fantastic result for HEB, Auckland Council, and the people of West Auckland.  For more information about the Te Whau Pathway Alignment see: https://lnkd.in/exANAWCw #HEBConstruction #TeWhauPathway #TeamHEB #AucklandCouncil #InfrastructureNZ #CivilConstruction #WestAuckland #ConnectingCommunities #ProudToDeliver

  • 🏗️ Te Ara ki Uta Ki Tai - Progress from Above 🏗️ Check out this drone fly‑over capturing the latest progress on Te Ara ki Uta Ki Tai (Glen Innes to Tāmaki Drive Shared Path) - one of Tāmaki Makaurau’s most significant walking and cycling projects. Our team is well underway in constructing the 870‑metre Hobson Bay boardwalk that will complete the full 7km connection from Glen Innes to Tāmaki Drive. With work progressing from both the Purewa Bridge end and Onepu Whakatakataka Reserve, key milestones include piling, decking beams, and early boardwalk structure taking shape. Once complete at the end of 2026, the path will connect communities, improve access to public transport, and create a safe, accessible route for thousands of Aucklanders each day. Ngā mihi to Sky View Photography, the project team, partners, and community for their continued support as we help bring this iconic pathway to life. #GlenInnesToTamakiDrive #TeAraKiUtaKiTai #ActiveTransport #Auckland #HEBConstruction

  • 🌿 Hayman Park Wetland and public realm development - view from above 🌿 Check out the progress at the Hayman Park Wetland development in Manukau! What was once a stagnant pond is now being transformed into a thriving wetland that will filter stormwater before it reaches Puhinui stream and the Manukau Harbour. The works focus on improving water quality, creating native habitats, and improving accessibility across the green space for the community. The project includes extensive native planting, new pathways and boardwalks, viewing platforms, and stormwater treatment features designed to support biodiversity and long‑term resilience. Ngā mihi nui to our Transform Manukau and Te Whakaoranga o te Puhinui Regeneration Strategy project partners, mana whenua, and the wider team for the mahi that’s helping reconnect people, whenua, and the awa. #HaymanPark #Wetland #Sustainability #HEBConstruction #AUDO 🤝🌿 👏

  • We’re getting excited for the upcoming opening of Te Ara Tupua 🙌 This incredible project is more than a shared path; it’s about building long‑term resilience, protecting our coastal environment, and creating a safer walking and cycling connection along the harbour’s edge. We’re proud to be part of the team delivering this landmark infrastructure project and can’t wait to see the community enjoy it. 🚶♀️🚴♂️🌊 #TeAraTupua #ResilientInfrastructure #ProudToBuild #HEBConstruction

Te Ara Tupua will strengthen the connection between Wellington and Lower Hutt by creating a safer, more resilient coastal route. This new 4.5km‑long, 5m‑wide shared path has been built on a foundation of extensive resilience works, ensuring a reliable walking and cycling link that will withstand future environmental challenges along the harbour’s edge. Roadworkers have built 2.7km of sloping coastal defences (revetments), averaging 16 metres wide and incorporating interlocking XBloc® units to strengthen the shoreline. They’ve also built six sections of vertical seawalls, totalling around 600 metres, in areas where this approach better supports the surrounding environment and avoids high‑value habitat. These structures not only enable the shared path but also strengthen the resilience of the road and rail corridor, helping protect this vital route from storms, coastal erosion and other natural events. We’re nearing completion and look forward to opening the path soon. To stay updated, follow this page or sign up for project updates here: https://lnkd.in/gm9WQd4g

🌙✨ Lighting the way at Te Whau Pathway✨🌙 We’re putting the finishing touches on the new 1.4km Te Whau Pathway linking the SH16 shared path to Roberts Road in Te Atatū. The photos were captured at sunset on Monday, 2 March, during nighttime lighting testing along the boardwalk. The testing ensures the pathway is well‑lit for safe use after dark, while keeping light levels low and sensitive to nearby residents and the surrounding environment. We’re also excited to share that the boardwalk will be opening on 20 March at 12:30 pm, so come on down and check it out. Our team has pushed really hard to get this great asset completed ahead of schedule! And the momentum continues: a new section of the Te Whau Pathway is already underway in Avondale, extending this important connection for local communities. We think it looks awesome and we look forward to welcoming everyone to experience this new pathway soon 🌿🚶♀️🚴♂️
