Since 2012, HCA Healthcare has hired more than 65,000 veterans, active-duty and reserve personnel and military spouses. In 2025, we were recognized by VIQTORY as a Military Friendly® Employer for the 15th consecutive year. Our commitment to supporting military-affiliated colleagues extends beyond recruitment and into every stage of their civilian careers — including during deployments and military service. For Caleb Stoudt, associate IT director at HCA Healthcare's Mission Health in Asheville, North Carolina, and a first lieutenant in the US Army Reserve, that support traveled thousands of miles overseas with his platoon — and ultimately made its way back home. A flag sent to Caleb by Mission Hospital colleagues, along with care packages, supplies and handwritten notes, accompanied his platoon throughout his deployment. Flown during more than 40 combat missions, the flag served as a powerful reminder of the support waiting for him back home. Earlier this month, Caleb presented the flag back to his Mission Hospital colleagues, accompanied by a certificate documenting its service, as a symbol of gratitude for the encouragement they provided. This Military Appreciation Month, we are proud to honor Caleb and all those who have served or continue to serve. Thank you, Caleb, for your service, leadership and dedication to our country and our communities. #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #WeShowUp

At HCA Healthcare, inquiry from nurses can lead to safer, more evidence-based care. With more than 100,000 nurses across our organization, those insights have the power to improve care at scale. That impact was at the center of HCA Healthcare’s second annual Nursing Research Day, hosted in collaboration with Galen College of Nursing. The event brought together nurses, students, faculty and leaders from across HCA Healthcare, Galen and other academic institutions to share work rooted in clinical inquiry — highlighting how externally published research, presentations at national forums and large-scale, real-world studies are helping identify best practices to improve patient care. “Nurse-led research has never been more important,” said Erica Rossitto, senior vice president and chief nurse executive, HCA Healthcare. “Nurses bring a uniquely practical and patient-centered perspective to identifying risks, improving workflows and helping organizations adapt and improve patient outcomes.” Read more about the projects featured during Nursing Research Day and how HCA Healthcare nurses are turning bedside observations into evidence-based improvements that can benefit patients and care teams across HCA Healthcare and beyond: https://bit.ly/4wVcfS2. #ImproveMoreLives #HCANursing

When seconds count, teamwork matters. This #EMSWeek, we’re recognizing the powerful coordination between first responders and hospital care teams — and the difference it makes for patients like Neil Mitchell of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Neil was at home when he began experiencing chest pressure, sweating and discomfort. He nearly chose to wait, but a call to 911 set a life-saving chain of care in motion, from the Nashville Fire Department Madison Station crew to the cardiac teams at TriStar Skyline Medical Center and TriStar Centennial Medical Center. Neil survived a severe heart attack and multiple cardiac arrests. He recently returned to TriStar Skyline to reunite with the EMS crew he credits with helping save his life. It was a meaningful moment of gratitude for the partners whose quick action helped him reach care when minutes mattered most. “I’m grateful for their sacrifice and for everyone who cared for me. They got me there.” Today, Neil is continuing his recovery through cardiac rehabilitation, and his experience carries a clear message: if something feels wrong, don’t wait — call 911. At just 24 years old, HCA Healthcare emergency room nurse Alex Wilson-Garza suffered an unexpected ischemic stroke. Because her husband quickly recognized the stroke warning signs and took action, Alex received lifesaving care from the expert team at St. David's HealthCare Round Rock Medical Center — the same hospital where she works. “I was really scared because, as nurses, we spend our entire job taking care of other people,” Alex said. “But it’s really hard for nurses to step back and take care of themselves. Even though I had this intuition that there was something wrong, I just didn't want to admit it.” Today, Alex is back caring for patients alongside the team that cared for her. During #StrokeAwarenessMonth, she’s sharing her story to help others recognize the B.E. F.A.S.T. warning signs and understand why every minute matters. Across HCA Healthcare, teams are committed to continuously improving stroke care, achieving a median door-to-needle time of 33 minutes — 45% faster than the national benchmark of 60 minutes for stroke treatment. On “HCA Healthcare Today,” stroke survivors like Alex share how recognizing B.E. F.A.S.T. warning signs helps save lives: https://bit.ly/4a2Zfjr.

From serving as an intelligence analyst in the US Army to caring for HCA Healthcare patients, nurse Stephanie Phillips’ career has always been rooted in service. In the military, she analyzed complex information and supported decision-making in high-pressure environments. The experience required discipline, focus and the ability to stay steady in uncertainty — skills that now shape her work as a nurse leader at 🏥 HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland in Texas. “Both paths are rooted in service, accountability and trust,” Stephanie shared. “The Army allowed me to contribute to something larger than myself, while nursing gives me the opportunity to make a direct impact on individuals and families each day.” During Military Appreciation Month, we’re especially grateful for our HCA Healthcare colleagues like Stephanie and for all those across our communities who have served or continue to serve. Your service, sacrifice and strength inspire us every day. ➡️ Learn more about Stephanie’s journey and explore more stories from nurses across HCA Healthcare: https://bit.ly/3PtOnEg. #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #NursesMonth #HCANursing
