One drag can create two mates in SOLIDWORKS - if you understand the geometry. When you use Alt + Drag between circular edges, SOLIDWORKS automatically applies multiple mate relationships. This happens because circular edges contain: • Cylindrical geometry • Planar geometry As a result, SOLIDWORKS creates: • A concentric mate • A coincident mate Understanding this behavior helps engineers build assemblies faster while maintaining correct alignment. It’s a simple capability - but one that improves efficiency across repetitive assembly workflows. At GSC, we go beyond simply providing software. We work alongside engineering teams to improve workflows, strengthen design processes, and support real-world production challenges. As a value-added reseller of SOLIDWORKS, our role is to help teams succeed - not just implement tools. That’s why we regularly host free educational sessions focused on practical engineering workflows and continuous improvement. Parts facing the wrong direction in your SOLIDWORKS assembly? The solution may be as simple as switching between Align and Anti-Align. These mate options control the direction components face relative to each other: • Align → Same direction • Anti-Align → Opposite direction Understanding this difference helps engineers position components correctly and avoid unnecessary adjustments during assembly work. Small configuration details like this can make assembly workflows faster and more predictable. At GSC, we go beyond simply providing software. We work alongside engineering teams to improve workflows, strengthen design processes, and support real-world production challenges. As a value-added reseller of SOLIDWORKS, our role is to help teams succeed - not just deploy tools. That’s why we regularly host free educational sessions where engineers can learn practical techniques and continuously improve how they work. SOLIDWORKS drawing dimensions overlapping each other? This is common when importing model items into drawings. Instead of manually moving each dimension, engineers can use Auto Arrange Dimensions to automatically space them. This tool quickly spreads dimensions apart so they are easier to read and manage. From there, you can fine-tune the layout for a cleaner drawing. Small workflow improvements like this can save time and make engineering documentation easier to maintain. At GSC, we work alongside engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS more effectively in real production environments. We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical SOLIDWORKS workflows and engineering best practices. If midpoints suddenly stop appearing in SOLIDWORKS sketches, it’s usually a settings issue-not a software change. Midpoint visibility is controlled within System Options → Sketch settings. Even when enabled, midpoint indicators typically appear when you hover over a line, helping keep sketches visually cleaner while still allowing quick snapping during design. Small configuration details like this can prevent confusion and help engineers maintain efficient sketch workflows. At GSC, we work alongside engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS more effectively in real production environments. Our focus goes beyond licensing-we help teams improve workflows and engineering productivity. We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical implementation strategies. Imported dimensions in SOLIDWORKS drawings can quickly become cluttered. When model items are brought into a drawing view, dimensions often appear stacked or overlapping. Instead of adjusting them one by one, engineers can use the Auto Arrange tool to automatically space selected dimensions. This allows you to quickly clean up the drawing and improve readability. Small tools like this can make a big difference when documenting complex parts. At GSC, we work alongside engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS more effectively in real production environments. Our focus goes beyond licensing-we help teams improve workflows and engineering productivity. We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical implementation strategies. Ever formatted one SOLIDWORKS dimension perfectly and wished you could apply it everywhere instantly? That’s exactly what the Format Painter tool does. It allows you to copy visual formatting from one dimension or annotation and apply it to others in seconds. Instead of manually editing each dimension’s: • Font • Style • Position You can simply copy the formatting from one element and apply it across your drawing. This helps keep engineering documentation consistent and saves time during drawing cleanup. At GSC, we work alongside engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS more effectively in real production environments. We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical SOLIDWORKS workflows and engineering best practices. Explore upcoming sessions here: https://lnkd.in/gwTzg95e

Still recreating the same notes or symbols in SOLIDWORKS every time you start a new drawing? The Design Library allows teams to store reusable content and insert it instantly into future projects. You can quickly: • Create a symbol or annotation • Add it to your Design Library • Reuse it across drawings • Maintain consistent documentation This approach helps standardize workflows and reduce repetitive design work across teams. It’s a simple capability - but one that supports long-term efficiency and consistency. At GSC, we go beyond simply providing software. We work alongside engineering teams to improve workflows, strengthen design processes, and support real-world production challenges. As a value-added reseller of SOLIDWORKS, our role is to help teams succeed - not just deploy tools. Did your SOLIDWORKS midpoints suddenly stop showing? Most of the time, nothing changed. Midpoints typically appear only when you hover over sketch entities, and display settings for center points or entity points may affect visibility. Understanding how these settings work can prevent unnecessary troubleshooting after updates. In this tip, we cover: • Why midpoints appear on hover • How relations and display settings interact • What to check before assuming a software issue At GSC, we work alongside engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS more effectively in real production environments. We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical workflows and troubleshooting strategies. Still searching through folders every time you need a part in SOLIDWORKS? Shortcut folders are designed to streamline workflows by giving teams quick access to commonly used content. You can drag and drop: • Parts into assemblies • Assemblies into assemblies • Symbols and notes into drawings • Tools and resources used across projects These folders act as shortcuts, helping engineers reduce repetitive navigation and maintain focus on design work. It’s a simple capability - but one that can significantly improve efficiency across a team. At GSC, we go beyond simply providing software. We work alongside engineering teams to improve workflows, strengthen design processes, and support real-world production challenges. Most engineers overlook this in SOLIDWORKS drawings. Dimensions aren’t just static annotations-they have interactive controls that allow quick adjustments. You can: • Flip arrowheads instantly • Adjust leader length with simple drag handles • Snap to predefined settings from Document Properties These small features help improve drawing clarity without slowing down your workflow. At GSC, we work with engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS more effectively in real production environments. We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical engineering workflows.
