How about a #FeelGoodFriday story? Members of the Spanish Honor Society at a Baltimore-area high school are standing in solidarity with immigrant and refugee children. 💙 Over the course of several weeks, this group of students collected diapers, picture books, and other children’s items for families served by our Baltimore Welcome Center. They also created handmade cards with personal messages to remind children that they are welcome and supported. “We wanted to help, even if it’s in a small way,” said student organizer Peri J. “Sometimes just one act of kindness can make a big difference in a person’s day or their life.” As changes in immigration policy separate families, cut food assistance, and strip parents of work authorization, our supporters continue to step up in ways that show what it means to love your neighbor! Be sure to subscribe to the new newsletter from Global Refuge President and CEO, Krish O'Mara Vignarajah! 📰⤵️
I've spent years living at the intersection of three roles that don't always play nicely together. By day, I work on the front lines of global displacement — where immigration isn't a talking point, it's a Tuesday. I lead a nonprofit where hundreds of people's livelihoods depend on decisions I make in an environment that is increasingly hostile for humanitarian organizations. And at home, I'm mom to two little girls, trying to raise grounded, compassionate humans in a world that makes that harder every day. Late at night, when the emails stop and my daughters are asleep, I sit with the questions I've pushed aside to get through the day. Questions about what it means to lead with integrity right now. About how to raise children with hope and empathy when the news cycle seems designed to make both feel naive. About the gap between how we talk about migration and what's actually happening in real families, real communities, real lives. This newsletter is my attempt to let these parts of my life talk to each other. It's not more commentary or hot takes — there's plenty of that. It's translation. Between policy and people. Between global headlines and your dinner table. My first issue is out today. It's called Living With Big Questions in a Complicated World — and it's my way of introducing why I'm writing, what I hope to explore, and the personal thread that runs through all of it. If you're someone trying to navigate complexity without losing your sense of purpose — or your sense of humor — I hope you’ll subscribe and join me.

ACTION ALERT: Protect children seeking safety! 🚨 Congress is moving forward with a reconciliation bill that would pour an additional $70 billion into detention, family separation, and enforcement—on top of the $170 billion already provided last year. The bill and its amendments risk treating unaccompanied children as cases in an enforcement system rather than vulnerable young people fleeing violence, trafficking, and abuse. Children are children first. They deserve individualized care, compassion, and safety. Raise your voice TODAY to stop harmful policies before they advance! Tell your Members of Congress: Protect children. Vote NO on reconciliation and any amendments that would undermine child protection.
