The Architecture of Opportunity I’ve been thinking a lot about how we find our place in the world. When we are young, we are handed a map of clear, legible paths: go to school, get a degree, apply for an open role. But the most interesting lives rarely follow the map. I recently read an exceptional piece by Maja at Velvet Noise called "How to Enter Side Doors." In it, she shares a philosophy that changed how I view opportunity: if you want an unusual life, you have to be willing to move unusually. She breaks down how the best opportunities—the internships that didn't exist until you asked, the roles created out of a compelling cold email—happen when we stop waiting for permission. It’s a reminder that the predictable, batch-processed systems we rely on are often the least effective ways to connect human talent with real-world needs.
