📢 Request for Information is now open on the Actions and Market Instruments Phase 1 White Paper. GHG Protocol has just launched a 60-day Request for Information as part of our efforts to develop a new Actions and Market Instruments (AMI) standard. The basis for the Request for Information is a White Paper that summarizes the outcomes of the Phase 1 of the standard development process. The White Paper proposes the introduction of a multi-statement reporting structure, enabling companies to completely and transparently report on impacts of actions and market instruments in a credible manner within a corporate GHG report. Clear guidance on how to account for AMI across sectors in GHG reports will help unlock the investments required for decarbonization, among others in hard-to-abate sectors, while strengthening the integrity of GHG accounting and reporting. 📅Feedback period: March 31st through May 31st ➡️ Learn more and participate: go.ghgprotocol.org/qTopqe Your feedback will help shape the next generation of corporate greenhouse gas accounting standards, ensuring they remain robust, transparent and aligned with a rapidly changing landscape. #GHGProtocol #Sustainability #ClimateAction #ActionsandMarketInstruments #CarbonAccounting

📢 Open Now Until April 24: Land Sector and Removals Stakeholder Needs Survey On January 30, GHG Protocol published its Land Sector and Removals Standard. Now, in the lead up to the publication of the corresponding Land Sector and Removals Guidance, GHG Protocol is seeking feedback from companies with land sector related emissions or that choose to account for CO₂ removals, as well as data providers and other relevant stakeholders, on their needs related to capacity-building, business decision-making, and data/MRV (monitoring, reporting, verification) . ➡️ Take 10-15 mins to complete the survey: go.ghgprotocol.org/TDP12t

GHG Protocol's Global Director, Pankaj Bhatia, will be participating in The Climate Registry’s 2026 Carbon Disclosure and Decarbonization Forum on March 19 in Pasadena, California. Pankaj will join the panel “The Global Carbon Disclosure Landscape: Turning Complexity into Momentum,” which will explore how expanding carbon disclosure requirements across U.S. states and global markets are creating both immediate compliance pressures and longer-term strategic challenges. The discussion will examine how sustainability leaders can navigate emerging state, Canadian, and EU regimes, and will highlight approaches for managing fragmentation, uncertainty and global regulatory convergence. This is an in-person-only event, so if you’ll be attending, we hope you’ll join this timely conversation. ➡️Register to attend: go.ghgprotocol.org/YC4DF5

GHG Protocol’s Global Director, Pankaj Bhatia, recently joined S&P Global's All Things Sustainable podcast to discuss how greenhouse gas accounting standards are evolving. In the conversation, Pankaj said, “Climate change is not a siloed operational issue. It's a systemic issue. And if the problem is systemic, the accounting system must also be systemic." Listen to the episode to hear Pankaj discuss what’s ahead for greenhouse gas accounting and how GHG Protocol is responding to stakeholder feedback from recent public consultations. 🎧➡️go.ghgprotocol.org/HDgl6J

During our recent webinar co-hosted by ISO - International Organization for Standardization, Bruna Cerqueira, Coordinator of the COP30 Presidency Action Agenda, shared why more aligned approaches to carbon accounting are key to unlocking progress across sectors. As Bruna put it: “Carbon accounting is one of those key measures that we need if we are to accelerate action… that’s why the initiative to harmonize carbon accounting is so crucial for us to move forward.” Her message highlighted the importance of the ISO–GHG Protocol partnership, which we look forward to continuing together to make harmonized carbon accounting a reality. 🎬Missed the webinar? As Bruna Cerqueira, General Coordinator of the COP30 Action Agenda, has emphasized, we are now in the implementation phase of the Paris Agreement. Delivering credible, globally comparable carbon accounting is one of the most powerful levers to accelerate real-economy decarbonisation. That requires a shared global approach. Under the COP30 Action Agenda, ISO - International Organization for Standardization and GHG Protocol have a historic opportunity – and responsibility – to deliver a harmonized framework that brings consistency, simplicity, and trust to the market. More than 1,000 businesses, standard-setters, and practitioners attended the recent ISO x GHGP webinar ‘Harmonizing Global Carbon Accounting under the COP30 Action Agenda’. The consensus was clear: one global climate science-aligned framework is essential to reduce fragmentation and accelerate decarbonization. To catch up on the webinar and hear from experts including EY, Colgate-Palmolive, Dow, ISO - International Organization for Standardization and GHG Protocol on why this work is critical, please use the following link: go.ghgprotocol.org/4JPFES As Colm Devine Global Vice Chair, Sustainability at EY said: “We should think about harmonization as a strategic tool.” Aligned carbon accounting is not a technical exercise — it is a market enabler. What this means in practice: ➡️ Low-carbon products can compete fairly ➡️ Investors can trust the data ➡️ Capital flows to where it matters most ➡️ Decarbonization accelerates across industries. Suzanne Greene, Global Purchasing Environmental Sustainability Director at Dow added: “As corporates, we need a shared foundation to reduce confusion and speed up decision-making.” Harmonization is not about lowering ambition, it is about strengthening accountability across the entire value chain and giving businesses the clarity needed to act. ISO and GHG Protocol are building on decades of shared experience to develop and deliver a harmonized global carbon accounting framework and look forward to working with both the #COP30 and #COP31 Presidencies to accelerate progress on this essential work. This is now a process of co-creation. Businesses, practitioners, standard-setters, investors, and policymakers all have a role to play. Join us on this journey to creating consistent and simplified carbon accounting, driving business accountability and, ultimately, decarbonization.
