Caught Cerulli Associates webinar recently on the RIA marketplace heading into 2026. The channel is growing fast and consolidating faster. RIA assets have outpaced every other channel since 2019. But just 2% of RIAs now control 54% of those assets, and another $3.9T is set to change hands over the next decade. That's a wrap on The Changing Landscape of Wealth Management Conference III in Austin. Chirag Gandhi and Thomas Brown of Waverly Advisors, LLC took the stage together and the room had a lot of follow-up questions. Good sign! 💫 On stage, they walked through what the AI-native operating model actually looks like for a firm managing $30B+ across thousands of households. The through-line: your data still sits in silos. One piece in the CRM, another in the financial plan, another in the custodian. Agents can only be as good as the data they can see. Solving for the unified data layer is the real infrastructure decision every firm is sitting with right now. The conversations off stage were just as good. The questions firms are asking have shifted. Nobody is asking whether to look at AI anymore. They are asking how to build it into their practice without breaking what is already working. Brad Lawler from Provost said it best, the main blocker to adoption is rarely the tech, it is change management. He also laid out three disruptions that are not happening at the same time. Operational is already here. Structural is next. Generational is later. Most firms are still figuring out the first one. Stephen de Man from Dimensional Fund Advisors put the stakes plainly, advisors who do not adopt AI will be replaced by competitors who use it effectively. The relationship still matters.
