Adaptive leadership built under pressure. Revealed when it matters.

About us

Geode Lifeworks helps organizations strengthen leadership judgment and action under pressure. We work with leaders navigating uncertainty, emerging technologies, and high-stakes decisions — especially in moments where AI, governance, and human behavior intersect. Our focus is adaptive leadership in complex systems. We support organizations in moving beyond tools and training toward accountable decision-making, clear authority structures, and sustainable behavior change. Through consulting, leadership labs, and applied frameworks like the Geode ADAPT™ model, we help teams: • Clarify decision boundaries • Anticipate stakeholder impact • Build trust under pressure • Navigate AI adoption responsibly • Strengthen governance in moments of ambiguity Our approach integrates behavioral science, emotional intelligence, and systems thinking to ensure that when conditions change, leadership holds. Built under pressure. Revealed when it matters.

  • We spend a lot of time thinking about how leaders navigate uncertainty— especially in the age of AI, rapid change, and increasing pressure to do more with less. The challenge isn't just adopting new tools or strategies. It's leading and living inside constant change without burning out. And one pattern keeps showing up: People aren’t just navigating change. They’re burning out while trying to keep up with it. We’ve been hearing a version of the same thing again and again: "I know I’m burned out… I just don’t know what to do next. I've read the articles. Taken time off. Told myself something has to change. And still—I'm ending up back in the same patterns." At Geode Lifeworks, we see burnout as a systemic issue--not a personal failing. It’s often a sign that something in the way we’re working, deciding, or carrying responsibility is no longer sustainable—especially in environments shaped by constant change. And when everything feels overwhelming, even small changes can feel hard to start. So we’re opening a small pilot cohort of 1:1 Burnout Reset sessions. This is a 6-week, structured coaching experience designed to help you: -Get clear on what’s actually driving your burnout -Make a few targeted changes (not overhaul everything) and -Start moving forward again—without adding more to your plate Each week focuses on one thing: one pattern, one decision, one shift. This is for people who: -Know (or strongly suspect) they’re burned out -Feel stuck or overwhelmed trying to figure out what to do next and are -Navigating high expectations in fast-changing environments We’re keeping this cohort intentionally small and high-touch and are starting later this month. If you’re interested, send a short note to info@geodelifeworks.com with a few lines about what’s been feeling hardest lately. We’ll follow up with details and next steps. You don’t have to figure this out alone.

  • We’re seeing AI show up more and more in environmental and climate-related work. But the real question isn’t just what AI can do...it’s how we make thoughtful decisions about when and how to use it. During #SFClimateWeek, Geode Lifeworks is co-hosting an "AI in the Wild" walk-and-talk in Salesforce Park. No presentations. No panels. Just a space to explore how AI is shaping environmental decision-making—and where we need more clarity, intention, and leadership. If you’re working in or adjacent to this space, you’re welcome to join us. 📍 Central Plaza near Barebottle 🔗 https://luma.com/v4cmiw8a

  • Supporting your nervous system isn’t optional–it’s essential. Whether you’re recovering from high-stress or working to prevent burnout, helping our nervous system is a must and strongly supported by behavior science. Here are three additional practices that support regulation and wellbeing. Reflection helps your brain integrate emotions instead of suppressing them. - Journal even just a sentence or two about what you feel - Ask yourself, “What do I notice right now?” Connection and spending time with others, helps to co-regulate and stay calm. - Sit next to someone you trust.  - Send a “thinking of you” message.  - Walk with a friend—even if they’re just on the other side of the phone Autonomy and taking time for yourself helps the nervous systems to relax. - Turn off notifications for an hour. - Set a 10-minute “do whatever I want” timer. - Say no to one small thing. • Here are 3 simple, science-backed practices that can help your nervous system to reset after prolonged stress. Time in nature reduces stress hormones and clears mental fog. - Turn off your phone. - Find a tree, a plant, or a patch of sky. - Notice the colors, textures, and sounds around you. Low-press creativity play calms the brain and shifts it out of survival mode. - Doodle, paint, or write. - Make something. - Rearrange or decorate a shelf or small space. Stillness & presence tells your system it can relax. - Sit quietly in a comfortable space - Try a few deep breaths. - Take a slow 10-minute walk at half your normal pace. Which of these practices feels the most accessible to you this week? #Wellbeing #BurnoutRecovery #ResetYourNervousSystem #SelfCompassion #BurnoutPrevention

  • Burnout isn’t something you just “fix” yourself. More often, burnout is a response to systems and environments that ask more than people can sustainably give. Recovering from burnout isn’t about correcting a flaw in you. It’s about giving your nervous system the support it hasn’t consistently received from the world around you. At Geode Lifeworks, we’ve seen how exhausting burnout can be–and how challenging recovery is without the right tools and conditions. This is why we design workshops and experiences to help teams and organizations build practical, evidence-based skills to recover from burnout and reduce the risk of it returning. • Rest often takes longer than we expect (or want). Healing isn’t one big moment. It’s hundreds of tiny ones. Little breaths. Little rebuildings. Little kindnesses to yourself. Recovering from stress is like reassembling yourself piece by piece so you can rise again stronger and steadier. Transitioning back to baseline requires gentleness and time, which is often hard for busy folks to hear. We get it…and also acknowledge that intention and effort alone doesn’t drive recovery. Your nervous system also needs experiences that say “you’re safe now” like spending time in nature or doing something you enjoy. What do you find most challenging when recovering from prolonged stress? What helps you most to feel renewed? #BurnoutRecovery #StressManagement #SelfCompassion #LeadershipSkills #Wellbeing

  • Adaptive leadership often starts with questioning the norms we take for granted. At Geode Lifeworks, we see how challenging this moment is for leaders—from shifting markets to accelerated AI adoption to evolving expectations about work, trust, and wellbeing. That’s where the ADAPT framework gives leaders and teams a practical way to navigate change. In our latest video, “Challenging the Norms – Lessons from the Golden Gate Bridge,” founder Skye King explores how the bridge’s builders challenged long-standing industry assumptions about worker safety–demonstrating adaptive leadership long before we had a name for it. In the video, you’ll learn how to: ✅ Assess current challenges ✅ Decide where to focus first ✅ Anticipate human impact ✅ Practice trust-building behaviors ✅ Test, learn, and recalibrate Watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/gEYYJ_az #AdaptiveLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #AIAdoption #Resilience #FutureOfWork

  • Many of us wonder why we’re still exhausted even after a long break. Or why we feel like we need a vacation from our vacation. Or get sick a few days into relaxing. This isn’t personal failure–it’s science. The expectation of “bouncing back quickly” trains us to believe we should recover from high stress or burnout far faster than our nervous systems actually can. When you’ve been under sustained stress–care-giving, deadlines, grief, illness, surgery–your nervous system shifts into survival mode. And here’s the kicker: When the stressful thing finally ends, your body doesn’t instantly snap back. It exhales and finally gets the message: “Okay — we’re safe enough to feel everything we’ve been holding.” That’s why so many people crash when they finally slow down. It takes time to recover and at Geode Lifeworks, we support leaders and teams in building practical, science-backed skills to help them not only recover from burnout, but to prevent it from happening in the first place. • Empowering leaders to recognize their personal early warning signs of stress and burnout is so important. For example, our founder, Skye King, shares two of her early indicators: An eye twitch after long periods of screen time or lack of sleep Becoming more irritable or snappy, despite being naturally optimistic For her, these signals mean it’s time to pause and close the laptop, take a walk, meditate or spend time with loved ones (like her dogs). Your early warning signs may look different, but they are always trying to tell you something. One of our recent videos walks you through an exercise to help identify yours.  Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/eFz6kR6F #BurnoutPrevention #burnout #wellbeing #entrepreneur #MentalHealth

  • Today we’re celebrating the launch of "Emotion Rules" by Joshua Freedman, CEO and Co-Founder of Six Seconds, The Emotional Intelligence Network. At Geode Lifeworks, we spend a lot of time talking about the leadership capabilities needed in an AI-accelerated world. And one truth keeps rising to the surface: The more powerful our technology becomes, the more important emotional intelligence becomes. AI can help us process information faster. But it cannot replace the human abilities that guide wise decisions— self-awareness, empathy, curiosity, courage, and emotional regulation. That’s why this book feels especially timely. Emotion Rules offers a practical and thoughtful exploration of how our emotions shape decisions, leadership, and the way we navigate uncertainty. In an era where many leaders feel pressure to move faster than ever, it’s a powerful reminder that understanding our emotional data is not a distraction from leadership—it’s foundational to it. Having had the chance to preview parts of the book, we believe it will become an important resource for leaders who want to move beyond simply surviving change… and instead learn how to lead and thrive through it. Congratulations to Josh and the Six Seconds community on today’s launch. 🎉 If you’re thinking about what leadership looks like in the age of AI, this is a book worth adding to your reading list. #emotionrules #SixSeconds #emotionalintelligence #LeadershipInTheAgeOfAI https://lnkd.in/gx3cdDRg
