We gather freelancers - to share knowledge and grow together

About us

We, Emelie Fågelstedt and Rasmus Solholm, started Freelance Mornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for the Stockholm based freelance community. The concept is simple: breakfast and a short talk one morning a month. Every event is free of charge and open to anyone. Our vision is to take our concept to more cities. Our dream is to enable freelancers all over the world to gather in their local communities and online. Our mornings are aimed to share knowledge, inspire and connect freelancers while building for a better tomorrow in the future of work together.  Freelance mornings are free thanks to the support of local partners and generous venues. Everyone is welcome. Just register beforehand to reserve your spot. Remember to set your alarm, and we’ll see you in the morning!

A few weeks ago I walked up to Emelie, co-founder of Freelance Mornings, and told her that if she ever needed help, she could count on me. She said yes. And just like that, I became their first ever volunteer (Cinthya Treto too). That moment taught me something: sometimes you just have to ask. I used to be scared of networking. Now I genuinely enjoy it, and a big part of that is finding the right spaces. If you're building your network in Stockholm, here are the ones that changed things for me: ☕ Digital Fika: where I met Laura from Helsinki and Martijn Koekkoek from Denmark, who builds networks across all of Europe and gave me my new mantra: be authentic, trust the process, show up. 🙋♀️ FoundHers Network: a community for women with honest conversations and real role models. I got to meet Maral Kalajian in person for the first time, which was honestly iconic. 💗 Lovable Founder Series: heard directly from founders in Stockholm and met incredible people like Aino Bergius, Elena Verna, Maria Sjögren from Women in Tech, and Sophie Rogers!!! ⭐ Freelance Mornings: I met Rasmus Solholm, Jennifer Florido and learned from a great panel and I can't wait for the next one on June 11. 🚀 THE FORGE: an event created by students from my own master's at KTH, one year below me. Siam Choudhury spoke and I got to meet Mohammed Alsaadi, who honestly impressed me with his networking skills. 🖇️ LinkedIn itself: where I've met more people than I expected, including Beatriz Dutra who is growing her hiring network across Europe. And then there's my thesis, which has become its own kind of networking. I've been connecting with tech founders from the startup ecosystems in Peru and Sweden. To everyone who said yes to being interviewed: thank you for supporting my research. The best thing I did was just show up. I hope this helps if you're figuring out where to start. #Networking #Stockholm #CommunityBuilding #PutYourselfOutThere #FreelanceMornings #FoundHers #TheForge #MastersLife #KTH #StartupStockholm

I've had an AI colleague for three years. But I still don't have a personal AI agent. Am I falling behind? 👀 With all the headlines about AI agents, automation and the future of work, it’s easy to feel like everyone else is moving faster than you are. Especially as a freelancer. Because when you work independently, staying relevant is part of the job. At the same time, you don’t have big team testing tools for you. You have yourself, your curiosity, and whatever time you can carve out between projects. Truth is: most of us are still figuring out the true value of AI in real time. Some are building AI products, others are experimenting with agentic workflows. Others are just trying to spend less time on admin. For the final Freelance Mornings before summer, Rasmus Solholm and I will focus the session on how to use AI to scale yourself. On June 11, we’re hosting a collaborative workshop where freelancers will share how they’re already using AI in their everyday flow. From agentic teams and vibe coding to small daily AI hacks that save time and energy. No hype. No buzzwords. Just freelancers learning together. Come join us at Epicenter Stockholm in the early morning hours! Seats are free but limited: https://luma.com/oloc8qwj ⏰ Don't forget to set your alarm - and we'll see you in the morning! #FreelanceMornings #futureofwork #epicenter #freelancer #AIcolleague

The world of work is changing. That much is clear. AI may have accelerated the conversation, but this shift started long before that. And in Sweden, especially in Stockholm, you can really feel it happening in real time. The startup scene has exploded, with companies constantly emerging, building, experimenting, and trying to shape not only Swedish society, but industries worldwide. And with that came a different way of working: hybrid models became normal. Some people split their week between home and office, others work fully remotely, and then there’s another group growing quietly but steadily: freelancers and consultants. I recently attended Freelance Mornings and found it fascinating to hear how differently people are choosing to build their careers. Some thrive in fully remote environments. Others still enjoy the structure and social side of office life a few days a week. And then there are the freelancers, people designing work around projects, creativity, flexibility, and autonomy. What’s interesting is how much the perception around freelancing has changed. It used to be seen as unstable or “less serious” than traditional employment. But somewhere along the way, consulting and freelance work started redefining success entirely. Suddenly, people could choose: ▪who they work with ▪what projects they take on ▪and how they want their daily life to look I heard this firsthand from Emelie Fågelstedt, co-founder of Freelance Mornings, who has been freelancing for 16 years, and still loves working that way. It led me towards a reflection: If you could design the perfect career path for yourself, what would it look like? #event #freelancemornings

More and more teams don’t need another full-time role. They need the right person at the right moment. I saw this clearly at Freelance Mornings at Epicenter Stockholm last week, part of the SIME pre-sessions. The panel, hosted by Emelie Fågelstedt and Rasmus Solholm, explored how teams are evolving. AI agents are already becoming part of the way we work, but what caught my attention was the human side. Lisa Hartikainen, Maral Kalajian, and Jennifer Florido talked about specialists joining projects, understanding the context quickly, contributing where they are needed, and then moving on. That got me thinking, because it’s very close to how I like to work with business events. I come in at the point where it matters most, to help the team make the event stronger. Not to take over the whole project. Sometimes that means reviewing a plan or strategy before key decisions are locked. Other times it’s running a session to look at the event from the attendee’s perspective. And sometimes it’s shaping the strategy or building materials the team can reuse across future events. Different levels of support. Same goal: To help organisations design events that people engage with, connect through, and remember for the right reasons. AI can support many parts of event planning. But if the question is, “How will this actually feel for the people in the room?”, a human perspective still matters. If you’re working on an event right now, at what point would an external perspective be most useful? Before decisions are made, during planning, after the event, or somewhere else? _____________________________ Hej! • What a morning ☕️☀️ Last week Freelance Mornings had the honor of opening up SIME together at Epicenter with a conversation on “Teams of the future and AI agents”. Together with Lisa Hartikainen, Maral Kalajian and Jennifer Florido, we explored what happens when employees, freelancers and AI agents start working side by side. Some reflections that stayed with us: AI will absolutely reshape how work gets done. But human creativity, relationships and perspective become even more valuable in that shift. The future of work is becoming more flexible and execution-driven. Smaller core teams combined with specialists, freelancers and AI agents. Human connection matters more than ever. In a world of automation and AI, people still want to meet, collaborate, laugh and share ideas together. You still can’t grab a beer with an AI agent 🍻 A huge THANK YOU to our incredible panelists: Lisa, Maral and Jennifer! Also thank you to everyone who joined us in the audience. The energy, conversations and curiosity are what make this community special. A special shout out to Maria Alberto Cruz and Cinthya Treto for helping out with the event! See you at the next Freelance Mornings ☀️ (Breaking news: it's on June 11 at Epicenter Stockholm) / Emelie Fågelstedt and Rasmus Solholm #FreelanceMornings #FutureOfWork #SIME #AI

What is the future of work? Employees, freelancers and AI agents teaming up. This morning Freelance Mornings hosted the opening session of Sime at Epicenter with a talk on Teams of the future and AI agents. Rasmus Solholm and I were joined on stage by Lisa Hartikainen, Maral Kalajian and Jennifer Florido to dive into the future of work from a combined freelance, tech ecosystem and corporate perspective. Some learnings: - Yes, AI will change how work is done and what human teams deliver. But that’s not a bad thing. The agents can focus on the repetitive stuff so we humans get more time focusing on what’s important. - We all need to adapt a ”gig mindset” regardless of if we are freelancers or employed. To focus on delivering results and adding value in the work we do. More execution-driven. - Bringing a freelancer into the team means bringing in expertise with a powerful outside-in perspective. Companies that integrate their freelancers well have a lot to gain. - You can’t drink beer with an AI agent! Or experience real human drama. Human connection is more important than ever in the world of AI. Let’s use the productivity gains to spend more time with each other, meet, connect, collaborate, and just be human. THANK YOU to our panelists!! 🌟 And to everyone in the audience. I love the vibe of this community 💛 Thank you to Maria Alberto Cruz and Cinthya Treto for helping out. Thank you to Epicenter Stockholm for making Freelance Mornings possible this year. What a morning ☕️☀️! #FreelanceMornings #FutureofWork #Sime
