In this clip, Tobias Ahlin, designer and product builder formerly at GitHub, reflects on how working in the same problem space for years can create depth, but also a sense of being stuck. You become highly skilled within a narrow domain, yet hesitate to step beyond it. AI changes that dynamic. It lowers the barrier to exploring adjacent disciplines, making it easier to experiment outside your core expertise while still applying your judgment and taste. For experienced product and design professionals, that shift matters. This is part of a longer conversation in our Forwardism in Focus series. This week, we spent a full day together with our partner SJ AB and innovation teams from across Europe’s rail industry: Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Deutsche Bahn, CFL - Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, YR, SBB CFF FFS, ÖBB, Groupe SNCF and SNCB. Together, we led a workshop on how AI is reshaping product development. We shared how our teams are already using AI in practice: to prototype faster, create stronger shared context across the workflow, improve collaboration, and unlock new ways for product leads to work across design, code, analytics, and QA. By bringing real examples, practical tools, and hands-on ways of working into the discussion, the focus was not just on what AI could mean for product teams, but on what teams can start doing with it now. Beyond A to B: what happens when Europe’s rail industry innovators rethink the customer journey together? 🌍🚆 This week, we at SJ had the privilege of hosting our european colleagues from NS, DB, CFL, YR, SBB, ÖBB, SNCF and SNCB. Bringing together innovation teams from across Europe. Our shared ambition is clear: to exchange experiences, challenge ourselves to collectively elevate rail travel across Europe. Innovating the customer experience (onstage) as well as all the behind the scenes operations (backstage). Because that is the shift we are all navigating: from simply moving passengers to creating value throughout the customer journey ⏱️✨ We had two major common themes this week: (1) AI’s role and potential for business development in the railway industry. In collaborarion with our longterm partner Framna we explored among other things how vibe coding can help us prototype faster, collaborate smarter and bring ideas to life in entirely new ways 💡🇸🇪 (2) Common challanges and best practices when it comes to passenger information during disturbances: 📊 How do we deliver proactive, well-timed traffic information that genuinely reduces stress for passengers? 🌐 How can we offer relevant, proactive, multilingual customer service in real time with limited resources? What stood out most to me this week was that we all face complex challenges in our home markets. But in a turbulent and, in many ways, polarized world, collaboration is not just valuable, it is essential to move forward. We don’t have to solve everything alone. I keep being amazed of challanges that at first glance seems insurmountable, our european colleagues already have pieces of the puzzle to solve. If we collaborate. Again, a big thank you to all our amazing European colleagues for an incredibly inspiring week. Let’s push things forward! 🚀🌍🚂🌱 #RailInnovation #Connectivity #FutureOfTransport #EuropeanRail #Innovation #DigitalTransformation #CustomerExperience #VibeCoding #FörSverigeFramåt #Framtidståget #Forwardism Arne Wenzel Bernhard Schlepper Jenny Gejke Julie Draye Elodie Benoist Tone Dalen Florence Favier Stefan Guggisberg Sebastian Berger Olle Westin Emmanuel Loffet Rembert Sierksma Stijn van den Brand Vanessa Stichelmans Melanie Wiener Pascal Vock Erik Erlandsson Hallström Johan Björn Wennerström Sofie Struwe

In this clip, Jenni Munroe, AI & Programs Lead at Google, explains why inclusivity should not be treated as a final step in the process. With AI-driven personalization, interfaces and content can adapt in real time to individual needs. Inclusivity stops being a box to check and becomes a shared benefit. The same systems that support edge cases can improve the experience for everyone. The opportunity is significant. The responsibility is real.
