I’m excited to introduce Founders on The Yard, a new student-led initiative bringing together top student and alumni founders from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to Silicon Valley to showcase their startups in front of leading investors, operators, and ecosystem leaders.
My co-founder, Chukwuemeka Ugorji, and I are excited to share that our inaugural Demo Day on April 22nd is being built with support from Microsoft for Startups, ViableEdu, Breakthrough Ventures, HBCU Founders Initiative (HBCUFI), Venture for T.H.E.M., HBCU CONNECT, and Lovable — organizations helping us equip HBCU founders with the tools, resources, and networks they need to scale.
This work connects our founders to HBCUFI’s Pre-Accelerator program and Microsoft's global ecosystem, providing access to Azure credits and cloud infrastructure, powerful AI tools, and go-to-market support designed to help startups build faster and scale smarter.
Founders selected for the Silicon Valley Demo Day will gain access to:
→ Virtual accelerator programming and expert technical coaching, shaped with guidance from HBCU Founders Initiative
→ Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and AI tools through Microsoft for Startups to support building, testing, and scaling products
→ Product-building support through Lovable platform credits, enabling founders to test and iterate with cutting-edge technology
→ Go-to-market visibility and exposure to investors, operators, and venture leaders across Silicon Valley and beyond
→ A multi-day immersive experience, culminating in a public Silicon Valley Demo Day
→ Community-building and post-program support through a growing network of HBCU innovators, mentors, and partners
📣 Applications for the 2026 cohort are now open for HBCU students and alumni building startups across all sectors.
