We are in Glendale, AZ at the 2026 Community Risk Reduction Conference, where Jason Brooks and Todd Lando are presenting on how personalized, targeted communications can drive more resident risk-reduction actions. Using insights from Dr. Natalie Bennetts’ latest research, we will explore new ways for fire agencies to rethink full access inspections and engage residents more effectively. • Headed home from Alberta after being at the Canadian Risk and Hazards Network conference. This was our first international conference and we couldn't be more excited to see the possibility of wildfire resilience expanding. Fire Aside CEO Jason Brooks presented “It Takes a Village: How to Scale a Community Wildfire Resilience Program,” with a focus on practical tools, data, and resident engagement to help make Canadian communities safer.

“Fire doesn’t care about political boundaries” is a common theme from our partners. It is a privilege to be invited to present on technology and insights for wildfire resilience. There is much to learn here and hopefully share a few lessons that improve resilience for all of us.

  • We are in Sunriver, Oregon this week for the 2026 OFCA Conference, and this year is especially meaningful as we welcome a local Fire & Rescue service to the Fire Aside platform ahead of the 2026 fire season. If you are here this week, stop by the Fire Aside booth or reach out directly to set up a demo while we're in town.

  • Wildfire Preparedness isn't a week, it's an ongoing season — and we're here every day working on it with agencies and residents. Our theme for this week is "Resident Engagement Compounds", something we have found to be decisively true. When one resident opens their report, takes action, and shares that with neighbors, it cascades. Our data supports this — participation is contagious in high-performing programs. Want a 4x increase in full-access inspection appointments? Frame the start of inspection season as a window that matters. Every appointment booked is a property that gets real eyes on it. What agencies do in May sets the pace for the rest of the season. #wildfirepreparednessweek

We were part of a panel presenting last week with CSAA Insurance Group at the California Board of Forestry & Fire Protection's Zone Zero Advisory Committee meeting. Research presented by AAA was an eye-opener. 74% of homeowners highly or completely trust their local fire agency for wildfire mitigation information. The next closest source isn't close. Fire agencies have the most trusted voice in the room. We help them use it.

The Fire Aside team is in Colorado this week for the Colorado Wildland Fire Conference. 🚵♂️ We kicked off the week with the group mountain bike ride, our favorite part of FIRE ADAPTED COLORADO. 📉 Hussam Mahmoud and Angie Davlyn give an excellent presentation on pairing science with real-world data and community engagement to generate actionable insights for safer outcomes in Roaring Fork Valley communities. 💡 Dr. Jack Cohen's keynote was a highlight of the conference. His decades of leadership on home ignition zones and social change in wildfire preparedness shape so much of what our agencies do today. 🍔 Hosted a lunch and learn for over {20} of our Colorado agency partners to exchange ideas on strengthening community resilience - and how to drive real follow-through after inspections. 🏘️ Jason Brooks joined Danielle McNutt (City of Boulder Fire Department) and Natalie Bennett (former University of Colorado, Boulder) to talk about how we connect wildfire mitigation programs to real, measurable outcomes. ✨ Shoutout to Dorie Dalton from Evergreen Fire Rescue for receiving your FACO award, it is well deserved!

  • We are at the Texas Fire Chiefs Conference today as Jason Key and Dustin Dunn of Lake Travis Fire Rescue share how agencies are strengthening defensible space in fast-growing communities where mitigation is still voluntary. They discussed ways to build a strong mitigation culture, countering misinformation, sustaining education through turnover, and streamlining fuel programs. How does your team sustain resident engagement year after year?
