AI tools are no longer fringe tools in schools. They are already part of the daily learning environment. And students are not using just one. They are building their own little unofficial stacks. One tool to brainstorm, another to rewrite, another to summarize, another to help with code, and another to generate images. That is what makes student AI use tricky to navigate. The same technology can help a student build an app they never thought possible, and help another hand in a polished essay they barely understand. It can build confidence and creativity, or quietly erode the learning process if it starts doing too much of the work. Back from summer, and the school year finds its rhythm again. The first weeks of Term 1 are when online behaviour starts to settle into patterns that often last the year.
