For years, we have been conditioned to accept an unspoken rule. That choosing sustainable products means accepting compromises on size, battery performance, or price. With the Fairbuds 2, that argument has never sounded flimsier. Our new wireless earbuds launch at a lower starting price than their predecessors while delivering clear hardware upgrades: ➡️ Longer battery life for longer listening ➡️ A lighter, smaller earbud profile for a better fit ➡️ A more compact charging case designed for daily portability Crucially, durability remains at the core of our engineering. The Fairbuds 2 retain all seven replaceable spare parts, allowing listeners to replace a battery or a single lost earbud without discarding the entire product. Because ethical design should not carry a premium penalty. It should just be better tech, built to last.

When we launched the Fairphone (Gen. 6+) two months back, we also introduced more customization options for Fairphone Moments. Fairphone Moments is a calm and minimalist mini-OS that helps you manage your digital well-being better. You can choose five apps to keep front and center while silencing the rest. No pings, no feeds, no distractions. We built Fairphone Moments as a natural part of the phone's physical design. You don't have to root through multiple menus and submenus. Instead, just toggle the lime switch on the side of the device and get your focus on. Switch back and you're in full-fledged Android again. Stay connected when you want to. Disconnect when you need to. The digital detox mode that was first introduced with the Fairphone (Gen. 6) quickly became one of its most winning features, earning high praise from reviewers and owners alike. Here's a quick run-down of the improvements we have made, designed to help you make your Fairphone Moment even more personal. How are you using Fairphone Moments on your Fairphone? How can we make it even better? Leave your reviews and suggestions in the comments!

In 2016, Fairphone founder Bas van Abel stood at Dutch Design Week as an ambassador, sharing a radical vision. What if a smartphone was designed around ethics, repairability, and longevity instead of planned obsolescence? This year, we returned to DDW as part of the ID-HUB "Design Meets Industry" exhibition, showcasing the Fairphone with its complete modular architecture, down to every single spare part. ID-HUB spotlighted what happens when design insight meets production scale. When creative problem-solving pairs with commercial and industrial muscle, sustainable concepts move past the concept stage into viable, market-ready alternatives. Case in point: The Fairphone! Walking through the exhibition halls, the trajectory of the industry was unmistakable: ➡️ Deep focus on circularity, material reclamation, and waste stream innovation. ➡️ Urgent transitions toward PFAS-free design and non-toxic chemistry. ➡️ Systems designed to align human production with ecological cycles rather than linear consumption. The most rewarding part, however, happened directly at our stand. We spoke with community members still using older Fairphone models alongside visitors who had never encountered Fairphone before. Seeing people examine the modular components, understand the right to repair firsthand, and decide on the spot that their next phone would be a Fairphone reinforced exactly why we build the way we do. Whether you pay 3€ or 300€, most wireless earbuds are designed to be disposable: they are impossible to repair, so once the battery weakens, they are destined for the landfill. We're changing that. The Fairbuds 2 are designed to sound amazing and last long. How, you ask? Because they are repairable. Removable batteries. Seven replaceable spare parts. Zero glue, only screws. All you need is a simple screwdriver, nimble fingers, and a few minutes. It's time to say no to use-and-throw. It's time to switch to the Fairbuds 2. Your sound. Made better.

Most modern earbuds are treated as disposable, even if there's nothing seriously wrong with them. The Fairbuds 2 challenges the status quo, showcasing how sustainability and longevity can belong in every tier of consumer electronics. ➡️ Modular design: Replace up to seven spare parts yourself, including individual earbuds and batteries ➡️ Fair materials: The Fairbuds 2 contains 48.6% fair & recycled materials by weight, including 100% fair gold, silver, copper, and cobalt via mineral credits. ➡️ Designed for you and the planet: PFAS-free exterior, 75% post-consumer recycled plastics in the casing, and e-waste neutral. Check out the slides above to see how we’re making modularity the baseline for audio tech. Discover the Fairbuds 2 today: https://lnkd.in/ef3pRAj8

The most sustainable device is the one you already own. Yet, millions of functional devices end up as e-waste every year, simply because they were never designed to be opened. Here is why repairability and modularity are the core of our design philosophy: ➡️ Product longevity: Manufacturing accounts for roughly 80% of a smartphone’s total carbon footprint. Extending a device's lifespan by just a few years means less raw material extraction, less water use, less emissions, and less waste overall! ➡️ True ownership: Glued components and proprietary screws strip consumers like you of your right to repair. Fairphone products give you complete control over your own hardware and software. After all, you can't open it; you don't own it! ➡️ Better for your wallet: Because new tech is expensive! You shouldn't have to buy a whole new phone or earbuds because the battery has degraded or because the display has cracked. Swap out just the part that needs replacing and keep your Fairphone devices going for years! Designing for repairability requires rethinking product architecture from the ground up. Unfortunately, most brands prefer planned obsolescence over longevity. That's why we're celebrating the fixers, tinkerers, and advocates driving the repair movement forward. Let’s keep raising the bar for a fairer, more circular tech industry.

Fairphone has officially joined the RBC Agreement for the Metals Sector. Because driving real change means showing up where the work is happening. Partnering through this multistakeholder agreement enables us to pool efforts on vital worker-rights programs on the ground in critical mineral hubs like Indonesia. We are really excited about the possibilities of our participation and are looking forward to collaborating with like-minded partners, learning alongside NGOs, trade unions and government leaders, and helping the broader electronics industry raise the bar when it comes to ethical sourcing and workers' rights. Here's to making the supply chain behind our tech fairer. IRBC - International Responsible Business Conduct

Introducing the Fairbuds 2. Your sound. Made better. With new 11mm biocellulose dynamic drivers and improved audio tuning, the Fairbuds 2 deliver a more personal, more polished sound experience that's been professionally engineered and offers LDAC support for near-lossless audio quality. Make the sound truly yours with a five-band adjustable equalizer through the dedicated Fairbuds app. Or go with one of four expertly crafted presets for every kind of genre. Take it on-the-go and enjoy crystal-clear audio no matter where you are, thanks to its improved noise canceling that offers up to 45dB noise reduction. It's IP54 rated for dust and light splashes, is lighter and more compact than before, and comes with a warranty up to three years for extra peace of mind. And then there's our signature modular design, cementing our promise that these wireless earbuds are built to last. Up to seven parts can be replaced, including the earbud batteries, case battery, and case body, so one worn part does not mean replacing the whole product. Made with more fair and recycled materials than before, the Fairbuds 2 support living wage bonuses and worker wellness programs and are assembled using renewable energy. And they are 100% e-waste neutral too. The Fairbuds 2. It's your sound. Made better in every way possible. Now available in Europe. Coming soon to the US. In 2025, a sum total of 65 million metric tons of electronic waste was generated. That number was earlier projected to double to nearly 120 million tons of electronic waste projected by 2050. Then AI came along, and projections have more than tripled, hitting 196 million to 211 million tons! To put that in perspective, that's roughly half the bodyweight of all of humanity right now. The problem isn't that tech breaks sometimes. It’s how quickly we’re conditioned to replace it. But what if we could outrace the e-waste problem entirely? At Fairphone and Race Against Waste, we believe the solution starts with education, action, and longevity. Since their inception, Race Against Waste has collected nearly 3.5 million electronic devices, giving them a valuable second life. Along the way, over 70,000 students across Europe have taken part, learning firsthand what it truly means to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Fairphone and Race Against Waste started collaborating almost three years ago, with our combined E-waste Races now forming a crucial part of our overall recycling efforts. We are currently midway through our biggest collaboration yet, jointly organizing 10 E-waste Races across the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and France through 2026. We still have a few more months to go in 2026, but we're thrilled to announce that we have already crossed our last year's total at 30,000 kgs! Change happens when we combine long-lasting, repairable design with hands-on education for the next generation. Read the full story on our blog: https://lnkd.in/e9yaT--u
