🌟 Celebrating a Decade of Progress at EWIA's 10th Anniversary Event! 🎉 What an incredible milestone for the European Wireless Infrastructure Association as a full-house of attendees gathered to discuss the future of our digital landscape. Our vibrant discussions, led by high-level speakers from the European Commission, telco sector strategists, towercos, telecom operators and consumer representatives, focused on achieving the goals of the Digital Decade and working together for a more connected, sustainable Europe. ✨ Key takeaways: 📶 Europe needs a vibrant ecosystem to enable better and smarter connectivity everywhere people live, work, travel and gather. This requires massive investment in the underlying infrastructure (towers). 🌍💚 In the past 10 years since EWIA was created, the neutral host towerco model has emerged as the most efficient way to deploy and operate that infrastructure. EWIA Member companies have invested €50 billion in connectivity, with expected economic savings of €31 billion from 2019 to 2029. Passive infrastructure sharing creates value, and is also reducing the environmental impact. ⚡ Cascading through the entire value chain - from our customers, the MNOs, to their clients, the end consumers - results in lower prices and improved coverage, quality, competition and innovation. 🌍🇪🇺 EY-Parthenon's preview of the upcoming report for EWIA: private capital will be key to deliver the Digital Decade ambition, requiring in the coming years €100 billion for mobile connectivity, out of which €25bn for towerco infrastructure. EWIA members invest €2.5bn annually in new network infrastructure, particularly in rural and challenging areas. 🤝 During the high-level discussion featuring consumer and industry leaders and policymakers, one critical theme emerged: Collaboration is essential for driving innovation and efficiency in the digital landscape. The conversation also highlighted the expected progress stemming from the implementation of the Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA). 🇪🇺 With a new EU mandate now in place, and the Commission’s intent on simplification to accelerate the path to Digital Decade, we see a golden opportunity to contribute to Europe's digital modernisation. 📈 EWIA’s manifesto was unveiled at the event, calling for an investment-friendly environment and specific policy focus areas to maximise our contribution.
