  • Roughly 86% of employees say that job training is important to them. 59% say it improves their overall job performance, 51% believe it gives them more self-confidence and 33% cite it as a factor in earning them a pay bump. All of these stats come from a SurveyMonkey survey, but these numbers can only come true if the training that employees receive is actually good. And therein is the value of a Train-the-Trainer program. It helps your organization’s trainers move beyond straight lecture and PowerPoint, and a Train-the-Trainer program can help them to see what’s actually possible with training. If you need some help delivering a Train-the-Trainer program, let’s talk! I’d love to know how I might be helpful. Here’s a link to my calendar: https://lnkd.in/ef_wQ4Qf

  • Imagine rolling out a course and 97% of your learners saying, “I’d recommend this to a friend.” That’s exactly what happened for us on a recent project, but it didn’t happen by accident. Great elearning needs clear objectives, engaging activities, and a seamless experience. When those pieces come together, learners don’t just complete a course; they actually use what they learn. Schedule a free consultation with our elearning experts! https://lnkd.in/ebYFgqFp

  • Only TWO days left to vote! (and we'd really love your input!) When evaluating a presentation, we all want to move past vague compliments like "great energy" and provide feedback that actually helps trainers grow. But doing that consistently is tough. What is your biggest hurdle when evaluating a trainer? Cast your vote below (or drop it in the comments if your challenge isn't listed!). Then, join Brian Washburn next month to get a structured observation tool designed to tackle these exact roadblocks.

  • "I have a CPTD. I have all these other certifications. Why do I need to go to a foundations course? That's not for me." This was the honest first thought of Sonya Ponds, a graduate of our Foundations of L&D course. But she took the leap. What did she discover? That even with a "secret sauce," there's a "smorgasbord of spices out there in learning and development that you should at least taste". The course challenged her to stretch beyond her role as a "star facilitator" and touch every aspect of L&D, opening up a new world of opportunity. She realized she could be more. If you feel like you've hit a plateau in your L&D career, maybe it's time to get back to basics to spark new curiosity. https://lnkd.in/edfuUJfz

  • Subjective feedback is a wasted opportunity. When we tell a trainer, "I liked your energy," we aren't actually giving them a path to improvement; we’re just sharing a personal preference. To turn a good facilitator into a great one, you have to strip away the "vibes" and replace them with a structured approach. It’s the difference between giving an opinion and providing a roadmap for growth. Join Brian Washburn on June 11 for a 60-minute interactive webinar where we’ll solve the problem of vague evaluations. We’ll look at how to use a formal structure to make your observations fair, clear, and—most importantly—actionable. https://lnkd.in/equQBTGt

  • You can read all the books on adult learning theory, but the real question is: how do you apply it when you're standing in front of a room of learners? Effective training isn't about reciting theories; it's about putting them into practice. Our Training Delivery Basics course is designed to bridge the gap between knowing and doing. We blend foundational concepts from adult learning with practical, real-world strategies you can use in your very next training session. This isn't just an academic exercise. This is a hands-on program where you'll learn to: ⬩Explain the difference between "engaging" and "effective" learning. ⬩Implement a practical 4-step training design model. ⬩Choose the right activity for your specific learning objectives. ⬩Demonstrate ownership over your curriculum, even if you didn't create it. Move beyond the theoretical and start building real skills. Learn more and get started! https://lnkd.in/eAt4uN9X

  • The most effective training feels less like a lecture and more like an experience. There is a real art form to getting that right. It’s one thing to tell a learner what the "right" move is; it’s another thing entirely to let them feel how a seemingly small choice can snowball into a massive consequence. That "snowball effect" is exactly what Brian Washburn will be tackling TOMORROW, Thursday, May 14. Join us for a free, 60-minute session where we’re going to get our hands dirty. We’re moving beyond the theory of "scenario-based training" and actually building a branching scenario together in real time. Here is what Brian is planning to cover: ⬩ Role Play vs. Branching:When to use each (and how to avoid the "cringe" factor often associated with role play). ⬩ Critical Thinking: How to map out narratives that force learners to think and not just memorize. ⬩ The Live Build: We’ll use a planning template to structure a scenario from scratch so you can see the process in action. If you’re ready to move your instructor-led sessions away from "information delivery" and toward real behavior change, we hope to see you there. https://lnkd.in/eBek6sfC

  • Engagement is not the same thing as learning. You can run the most high-energy activity in the world, but if you skip the debrief to save time, you’re leaving the ROI of your program on the table. The activity is just the "doing," and the debrief is where the actual learning happens. The science is pretty clear on this: one study found that participants who spent time reflecting performed 23% better than those who simply used that same time for extra practice. Brian Washburn put together an article about the strategy of the training debrief to help you move beyond "Any questions?" and into real results. It covers: ⬩ The "Generation Effect": Why retention requires learners to produce their own ideas. ⬩ The Question Library: Targeted prompts for everything from technical skills to leadership dynamics. ⬩ 5 Proven Frameworks: How to use structures like AAR and ORID to force reflection. We have a responsibility to protect the space between an activity and an insight. Hope these frameworks help you ensure that your next session actually sticks. https://lnkd.in/em4RNW4F
