  • The En Dash DX (n-dx) Hackathon is fast approaching, mark your calendars! On June 8th @ 12ET, we are hosting the kick-off for our first n-dx hackathon! Tune on in, sign up and let’s create something to help make our work better together! We built n-dx to help make your work feel better. - SourceVision maps your codebase and finds the rough edges. - Then, Rex turns those findings into a real PRD (product reqs). - Finally, Hench picks tasks, writes tests, then writes code so you know not only that it works, but is reliable. It's TDD, but instead of a dummy agent throwing code at a dart board, it makes sure it creates code to YOUR standards. It's one of our small contributions to making work feel a little better. Come join in to see what we are doing, what n-dx is and can do, and how n-dx can help you improve your projects, new and old! If you join in, you are likely to get some cool swag and learn how to use a great new tool! Link to Sign up: https://lnkd.in/eYKAQhZv

  • Happening today: John Halberstadt and Nick Daniel from En Dash are presenting at SB Agile. Agile Meets Product Meets Software Craft in AI-Enabled Delivery will look at a timely question for product and delivery teams: As AI tools become part of how work gets done, how should Agile, Product, and Software Craft practices evolve with them? The session will focus on moving beyond tool adoption and toward better ways of building, learning, collaborating, and delivering value. En Dash is hosting a hackathon for vibe-coding! Starting June 8th we are doing a week-long hackathon where we want to see what you’ve created or will create with our new tool! We see a missing part of the developing experience that gets lost in deadlines and “just throw it in the backlog” testing. So we created n-dx to help you create PRDs and work testing-first so that your codebases stay resilient! There is a lot of cool swag to be handed out for those who participate and show the best fixes, bugs and creativity in their projects. Come join us and show us what you can do with our new tool! • Ethical principles guide responsible AI decisions. Ethics: The Why of Responsible AI A summary from our recently released book by John Halberstadt and Steve Daniel "Getting Started with AI Governance: The Field Guide for Small Businesses,” available here: https://lnkd.in/erc_vBNN This is from the chapter on Ethics, and this chapter's key point is that ethical principles help organizations evaluate fairness transparency and impact when using AI. Why does it matter? It matters because AI outputs can amplify bias, misrepresent facts, or influence decisions without ethical oversight. One question to ask in your organization: How do we evaluate bias or fairness in AI generated outputs? What's one thing you might do to get started in this area? Define ethical principles that guide responsible AI usage. Interested in learning more? Visit our site at endash.us for more resources, tools and insights.

  • The new issue of the Better Work Brief is out. This month is largely about pace and judgment: how teams decide what's worth doing, how fast to move, and how AI is reshaping both. Inside this issue: → John Halberstadt shares two new Scrolls on Jira Plans and Rovo for teams using Atlassian → The Make Work Feel Better Challenge, our async n-dx hackathon kicking off June 8 → Upcoming talks at PMI Northern Nevada and Agile Santa Barbara, plus this month's Consultant's Circle (tomorrow at noon!) → Steve Daniel taking a look at the capacity problem that shows up when AI removes the friction of starting new work → Valerie Katulka on curiosity as part of the consulting job → Sterling Halberstadt on why working too fast is often slower than working at the pace the work actually warrants Read the full issue and subscribe.

  • Tomorrow is our monthly Consulting Circle at En Dash. If you're a consultant, whether by title or simply by being a trusted guide and wise voice by those you work alongside, please consider joining us. It's an opportunity to connect and reflect and learn and grow with your peers, and other dedicated professionals seeking kaizen. Not all, perhaps not even many, true consultants have that word in their title. Good consultants are found everywhere, where there is a shared passion and purpose in doing good work, helping others learn, grow and become self-sustaining. Good consultants also are constantly and fearlessly reflecting - how can we improve upon our craft? En Dash's monthly Consultants' Circle is one of the ways we recharge, reflect and respond - learning from others on this journey. If this sounds like a good, kaizen-informed approach to share wisdom and ideas with peers of all titles and backgrounds, we would love to have you in the conversation.

  • AI-enabled delivery is changing fast, but the core question for teams is practical: How do we adapt the way we work so these tools actually improve product outcomes, engineering quality, and team health? Next week, John Halberstadt and Nick Daniel from En Dash will be presenting at SB Agile: Agile Meets Product Meets Software Craft in AI-Enabled Delivery. The session will explore how Agile, Product, and Software Craft practices can evolve together as AI becomes part of everyday delivery work. This will be especially relevant for teams thinking about: • AI-enabled product delivery • Modern Agile practices • Experimentation and continuous learning • Healthier, more adaptive ways of working May 28, 2026 - Online event Register here: https://lnkd.in/eqKZUby5 #Agile #AI #ProductManagement #BusinessAgility #AIDelivery #AgileTransformation #EnDashConsulting

  • En Dash DX is a free, open-source tool made to help keep your projects healthy! 🏥 The codebase doctor is here. Not in a lab coat, but there in a local-first tool with a shiny web UI. 🩺 n-dx’s self-heal command helps bring clarity to any codebase (most tested on JS/TS/Golang) through its automated analysis, and its subsequent recommendations. It helps teams ensure their codebases are up to snuff, catching things ranging from “duplicated helper functions” to broader “architectural anti-patterns”. 💊 Head over to the n-dx website, or check it out on github, to begin your codebase self-healing today! 🩹

  • You’ve got mail! ✉️ We are hosting a hackathon for n-dx! We are hosting a virtual Hackathon for our recently open-sourced developer tool: n-dx! The kickoff starts on Monday, June 8th at 12:00ET for the start of a fun, productive week-long event! Join in for some fun as we try to use our tool to help make your codebases feel better. We’ll be sending out prizes to the folks that: find the best changes; create the most creative projects; and do the best bug-catching! Prizes include: Books, T-Shirts, YETIs, and more! We are calling all devs with: - a project that you want to make but have had a hard time getting started - existing codebases that need a fresh set of eyes - a vibe-coded project that has gone sideways - any interest in hearing what this is about!
