Alternative legal services provider Elevate announced Thursday that it acquired Boston-headquartered legal recruiting firm Mestel & Co. in the U.S. The acquisition expands Elevate’s legal staffing offering to now include permanent placement and recruitment. Elevate CEO and chair Liam Brown told Legaltech News that the impetus behind the acquisition was mutlifold and included demand from the company’s law firm clients. “We have a number of law firms where we run their captive ALSP. There’s a whole bunch of things that we do that are quite strategic for law firms, and obviously one of them is helping us with really great talent. ... We think talent is going to be core in law in the future,” Brown said. He added that an expanded talent offering will also prove useful given predicted market shifts caused by AI. “I have a thesis that the law firm middle market, in particular, is going to go through a lot of change over the next couple of years. So I think AI is going to drive some of the revenue and economic changes in law firms. Those economic changes are going to cause top-down, some reshaping of practices, and also bottom=up, people … look[ing] for different places to work, or different places to bring their talents. The theory is that offering permanent lawyer recruiting is going to give all this talent partner to help them find their new place to work.” Full article: https://loom.ly/iso7RC8

Dirty legacy contract data doesn’t just sit there, it undermines CLM impact. Neetika Narula explains in World Commerce & Contracting’s CEJ how governance turns data into real advantage.
In her latest CEJ article, "The domino effect of dirty data could destroy future-ready contracting," Neetika Narula, Managing Director and India Geo Head at Elevate, explains why even the most advanced AI can’t fix a domino effect set in motion by inconsistent legacy data. Whether it's naming variations or broken parent-child relationships, these small errors create massive risks. Clean metadata isn't just operational hygiene, it’s the strategic backbone of future negotiations and risk modeling. Don't let poor data readiness kill your ROI. Read: https://lnkd.in/etW3usde

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. In 2026, legal teams are asking harder questions: Does AI work at scale? Does it integrate with our systems? Does it hold up under governance scrutiny? In his latest blog, Richard Royce explores how expectations have shifted from experimentation to embedded intelligence within ELM platforms, and where AI is already delivering value, drawing on lessons from 2025. From billing review to contract analysis and workflow intake, the focus is now on operational impact and defensible outcomes. Trust, accountability, and human oversight remain unchanged.
