If your answer to "who handles safety?" is "the Safety Manager," you may be more exposed than you realise. Section 80 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 makes Directors personally liable for safety failures in their organisations. Delegation does not transfer that liability. Oversight does. The HSA recorded 58 workplace fatalities in Ireland in 2025, a 61% increase on the year before.
