A long time ago on a jobsite far, far away... automated layout only worked for you if you spoke English. Those days are over. Dusty's May update brings multi-lingual printing to FieldPrinter — now supporting text languages used by 95% of Earth’s population, from Chinese to Hebrew, Arabic to Cyrillic, and more. Dusty communicates the model to the field. No matter what language they speak. The galaxy couldn't function without multi-lingual droids. Turns out the jobsite can't either. “Unless you can apply that technology practically — unless you can make the factory work for the field…” Couldn’t have said it better. Construction folks have been waiting for technologists to finally understand that building is hard enough without having to screw up processes to accommodate tech that can’t handle a real jobsite. The field needs tech that can… well, do stuff in the field. #ConstructionTech #RobotsInConstruction #FutureOfConstruction #FileToField #AutomatedLayout
Walls up. 🧱 The sun just cleared the horizon and the FrameTec® team already has Randek - built wall panels in the air. As soon as the concrete on the next lot is hard enough to walk on, Cole Driescher will have our Dusty Robotics field printers deployed. Here’s the thing to remember : You can have the most advanced manufacturing plant in the world. You can deploy AI in every facet of your business. But unless you can apply that technology practically — unless you can make the factory work for the field, unless you can maintain full architectural flexibility — it won’t scale. And it sure as hell won’t solve the housing crisis. That’s what makes the FrameTec Formula unique. → It works with the trades, not against them. → It lets builders build the house the consumer actually wants. → It’s not a someday technology. It’s deployed. Today. On real jobsites. At sunrise. The proof is in the pudding. Walls up. 🇺🇸 #Construction #Homebuilding #ConstructionTech #Framing #HousingCrisis #BuiltDifferent #FrameTecFormula

At Dusty, we know we're not serving an industry known for taking it easy on equipment. So our official field hardware QA protocol includes a test panel called Beat-The-Living-Crap-Out-Of-It. Here's engineer Sai Swarup Reddy running it on our new padded tripod case vs. parking lot asphalt. It held up fine. Your jobsite won't be the first hard surface it's seen. #DustyRobotics #ConstructionTech #ConstructionLayout #BuiltForConstruction

Honolulu Builders just described Dusty better than we ever could. "It's basically a robotic printer," said Subbu Venkataraman, president of Honolulu Builders. "When you have a slab that's poured, and you have the layout file that you upload into the printer, it drives around and it just prints on the slab where the walls should be." Before Dusty, the same work took two workers and several weeks with a total station. With FieldPrinter, one operator finishes the layout in days. According to Pacific Business News, Venkataraman emphasized that this kind of technology is not replacing humans on construction sites, especially as the industry faces a worker shortage crunch. "You still have people running these tools," he said. "It's just more efficient and saves us time to deliver projects faster, so it's not necessarily replacing. Once the layout is done, you still have to do other things that are still done by our workers." The HAWAII CARPENTERS APPRENTICESHIP & TRAINING FUND is already setting up training programs so carpenters can use the technology. "We want to get ahead of this technology... we want to make sure that our members are ready and equipped to use those robotic layouts," said HCATF Executive Director Edmund Aczon. Full piece by Alexander Lugo at Pacific Business News in the comments — worth a read if you're watching how Hawaii's construction industry is adapting to automated layout. #DustyRobotics #ConstructionTech #AutomatedLayout #Construction #FieldPrinter

“Will you provide a Layout Legend?” That's what the PM asked when I walked through our multi-trade layout scope on day one at a future Life Time in NJ. I said I didn't think we'd need one. The floor reads itself. We had a good laugh on day two. Our layout is our legend. We don't mark "℄" for center of pipe or "L" for a 90-degree fitting. We print the shop drawings directly on the floor. Full line styles, trade-specific graphics — walls, duct, plumbing, conduit, lights, soffits, hangers. The electrician leapfrogged the mechanical sub—they knew exactly where ductwork was going and ran their main conduit without fear of relocating later. The plumber broke out concrete and shifted sub-slab rough-ins to land in-wall (before the carpenters even mobilized). At the end of day two, the plumber told me he hadn't pulled out his shop drawings once all day. He told me that he was working about 1/3 faster than his typical scale plans>locate>mark out>install workflow. That's the signal. When the floor is clear enough that a sub can work a full day from what's printed beneath his boots. This is how Blackboard Studio helps pass the baton from coordination to construction. Fewer change orders. Faster schedules. Happier jobsites. Consigli Construction Co., Inc. and Life Time Inc. are building in 2026. Who’s next?

The robots in your distribution center move at 25 miles per hour. The rails they run on can't be off by more than 1/16 of an inch. That means the contractor laying out your facility has to be just as precise as the equipment running inside it. This week, Dusty hosted manufacturing leaders at our HQ as part of the Plug and Play Tech Center's Silicon Valley Summit. The conversation: what does your contractor's layout process mean for what you can actually build and run? Alston Construction built phase two of a robotic distribution center inside a live, operational facility, and helped reduce layout from a 15-day process for four people to a five-day process for one person, all while delivering more complete information to the field team at 1/16" precision across the entire site. Bouma Corporation has run about two dozen industrial layout jobs — automotive suppliers, rack manufacturers, data centers. At a rack facility in Indiana, one Bouma layout 3X'd the installation crew's daily output (not layout speed — INSTALL speed). The information on the floor was complete enough that installers could skip the usual search-and-verify cycle — footplate positions, bolt patterns, torque specs, and QR codes linking to live assembly docs were all printed directly on the concrete. With Dusty, the factory floor isn't just a surface. It's the handoff doc between engineering and installation teams. Thanks to Clara de Ros and Plug and Play Tech Center for organizing. #DustyRobotics #AutomatedLayout #Manufacturing #IndustrialConstruction #ConstructionTech

FieldPrinter 1 is retiring. The original automated layout robot — the one that showed up when the construction industry was pretty sure robots were lame, and proved otherwise. It has printed millions of square feet of layout across thousands of projects. It built an entire category of construction technology. The category of: Stuff That Actually Does Helpful Work on Real Jobsites. But FieldPrinter 2 is here. It's faster, tougher, smaller, and smarter. So for FieldPrinter 1, it's time. Time for a quiet retirement. A mug. Maybe a plaque... ... BUT NAY, good knight! Thou shalt expire in a blaze of thunderous glory!! #DustyRobotics #FieldPrinter #ConstructionTech #AutomatedLayout #RobotsInConstruction

A GC or specialty trade needs automated layout on a project already underway. Time is tight and the budget is committed. They don't have a VDC team to prep layout files. Or maybe they do, but the team is busy. Maybe they can't commit to getting their own Dusty robot right now. Those calls used to end differently. Now, we point them to our Certified Partner network — VDC and layout service providers who bring the VDC experts, the robot, the field operator, and the experience you need straight to your project. You get the power of automated, multi-trade layout. BIM-to-field accuracy. Speed, collaboration, and risk reduction. 10 inaugural certified partners across the U.S. See link in comments to find the one for your next project. #AutomatedLayout #LayoutAsAService #VDC #MultiTradeLayout #ConstructionTech
