The bus ride to school can be an influential moment - the ride itself can determine how a child arrives to school, ready to learn and able to self-regulate. Did you know that having a calming kit on the bus ride to school can support a child's ability to arrive ready to learn? Yes indeed! Kate Schwartz brings her work experience in HR at Crawford Hoying with her to our board, and is internally dedicated to helping our board ensure that our work is aligned with mission focus. As a former band parent, she also has a special interest in how we support the arts through our grants and enjoys watching grant impact unfold across the district. What does $50,000 in enriched learning experiences from DEF look like in DCS? DEF had a record number of submitted and funded grants in 2025-26! This year, we divided our grant applications into Mini Grants (less than $1000) and Impact Grants ($1000+). This empowered our educators who had simpler needs to be able to submit applications without a needed presentation. We are excited to see the upcoming classroom impact from grant funding totaling $24,510 from Fall 2025 and $16,298 from the Spring 2026. In addition, DEF is awarding the remaining $9000+ to the district to provide enriching items in the area of Purposeful Play for our Kindergarten educators as they continue along the path of full day kindergarten. #bettertogetherDCS #joinourjourneyDEF

Service through DEF board membership is of the highest calling, and we are celebrating the service of Amanda Pope ("Mandy")! "Serving on the DEF board is my way of making sure every student and teacher in our district has the support they need to thrive. I love that we can fund creative projects that wouldn't be possible otherwise. One of the best parts for me is getting a front-row seat to the amazing things happening in our schools across the entire district." Mandy is a mother to three boys attending Dublin City Schools, a realtor and an avid volunteer throughout the community. She dedicates her time to DEF by heading up our annual Elevate Education silent auction but also serves at the Dublin Food Pantry, volunteers weekly at Wright Elementary School and adds value to special projects with One Dublin and many other non-profits. We are grateful for her continued service with DEF!
