Excited to see the future of the #MI virtualization of Training!
This week's visit with the Army's IEWTPT program office in the U.S. Army PEO STRI crystallized a fundamental truth: we must train for the conflict we will face, not the one we find comfortable. The sophisticated work being done on this critical training platform is the bedrock of strategic readiness. The DoD/DoW leaders have been clear in their guidance: our enduring advantage hinges on superior training that prepares our warfighters for the pacing challenge. Systems like IEWTPT are where that strategic guidance is operationalized, forging Soldiers who are not only proficient with their equipment but are also cognitively prepared for the adversary they will encounter. The dedication of the IEWTPT team is instrumental in ensuring our Intelligence and Electronic Warfare professionals are the best in the world. Thanks for the great visit, but more importantly, thanks for building something that generates readiness and competencies for our Intel warriors. Well done to the team at the US Army Intelligence Center of Excellence (USAICoE) for leading the strategic efforts for threat-realistic training, and kudos to the supporting workforce at General Dynamics Mission Systems for bringing that strategy to life.

Thank you to the AUVSI Pathfinder team for inviting us to speak at Pathfinder 2025: Autonomous Advantage in Huntsville, AL!
Today I had a chance to talk to practitioners at the AUVSI Pathfinder Symposium where we wrestled with meaty topics such as Autonomous Advantage, Uncrewed Systems, Robotics and Advanced Technologies. I focused my comments on three major themes: 1) Automomy Enables Accelerated Warfighting: machines must handle the mundane and dangerous to hyper-enable our lethal capabilities. Humans own judgement, accountability and the will to live. 2) Automomy can’t be a buzz word: a prototype in the lab is a promise, but one in the dirt is progress. Design for the needs of the Soldier… and orient the design around the threats they face. 3) Autonomous Advantage is a Team Sport: America’s future depends on working together … even to the point of lowering switching costs, building open-system designs, and eliminating vendor lock. People have to make money, yes … but our first focus should be on protecting this Nation. Making an extra dollar is useless if the dollar is worthless. I’m excited to see what this community can do when it truly capitalizes on the momentum our leaders are creating. We are burying bureaucracy and unleashing the power of decentralized decision making every day. This is how we #win.
