Packaged fruit juices are often associated with freshness and nutrition, yet microbial contamination remains a persistent food safety challenge. A recent study published in Cureus Journal of Agriculture and Food Science highlights the potential of host-specific bacteriophages as a targeted approach to controlling Enterococcus faecalis contamination in commercially packaged fruit juices. The researchers isolated a lytic bacteriophage capable of significantly suppressing bacterial growth while demonstrating strong host specificity and stability under storage conditions. As the food industry continues exploring safer and environmentally conscious preservation strategies, bacteriophage-based interventions may represent an important step forward. Financial decisions shape everyday life, influencing savings, investments and long-term financial security. Within academic discourse on financial inclusion and economic participation, gender-based patterns in financial literacy continue to be an important area of study. Published in the Cureus Journal of Business and Economics, the original article examines professionals in Nairobi, Kenya, using the OECD/INFE financial literacy toolkit. The findings highlight strong overall financial literacy levels while also revealing notable gender-based differences in financial attitudes and financial knowledge. The study offers valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, employers and financial institutions involved in advancing financial education and inclusion initiatives. This research, co-authored by Prof. Dimitrios N. Koufopoulos, contributes valuable evidence to the discussion on financial literacy and inclusion. Growing demand for sustainable construction materials is prompting researchers to rethink how wood composites are produced. An original article published in the Cureus Journal of Engineering examines how veneer-wood leftovers from plywood manufacturing can be repurposed to produce oriented strand boards using formaldehyde-free adhesive systems based on lignin and tannin. By combining bio-based adhesive formulations with industrial wood residues, the research explores a more circular approach to panel manufacturing while evaluating mechanical strength, moisture resistance, and structural performance. The findings demonstrate promising alternatives to conventional synthetic resins and highlight pathways toward more environmentally responsible building materials. Read the full article to learn how this approach may support greener practices in engineered wood production. https://lnkd.in/gQBBA_tv #OrientedStrandBoard #VeneerWood #LigninBasedAdhesive #UnitedNations #Sustainability #ResearchCommunity #OpenAccess #Engineering #Journals #CureusJournals
