About us

Connecticut Public is our state's only state-wide public media station. We serve nearly one million citizens each month through Connecticut Public Radio (an NPR affiliate station) and Connecticut Public Television (a PBS affiliate station), as well as through our many digital and online platforms. Through our mission to inform, educate and inspire the people of Connecticut, we connect people of all ages to high quality journalism, storytelling, education and experiences, and amplify the voices of our diverse communities. Connecticut Public is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with an $22 million annual budget, funded primarily through community support from individuals, foundations and corporate sponsors. In addition to highly trusted PBS and NPR programming, Connecticut Public also produces award-winning local news, public affairs and entertainment programming that covers the issues and ideas most relevant to the citizens of Connecticut, on all platforms. This includes local television documentaries and public affairs programming, highly curated radio and podcast programming including Where We Live, The Colin McEnroe Show, the New England News Collaborative, Seasoned, and Audacious. We also produce engagement events ranging from children’s educational programs to community conversations and other special events.

  • 🚨 Public Media Funding is at Risk. Connecticut Public Needs Your Voice. 🚨 At Connecticut Public, we believe in the power of trusted journalism, free educational resources for all, and conversations that strengthen our democracy. Every week, 1.2 million people across Connecticut count on us for local news, thoughtful storytelling, and programs that inspire and connect. Now, this vital service is under threat. There is potential for the White House to ask Congress to eliminate $1.1 billion in federal funding for public media — a devastating move that would impact stations like ours across the country, and right here at home. Federal funding helps make everything you value from Connecticut Public possible — Morning Edition, All Things Considered, PBS NewsHour, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and our award-winning local reporting through The Accountability Project, plus educational programming, cultural events, and essential emergency alerts. ✅ You can help right now! To learn more about what’s at stake, how to contact your representatives or to make a donation, visit ctpublic.org/protect Your voice matters. Your support matters. Together, we can protect the public media that keeps Connecticut informed, connected, and strong.
