Iteration requires discipline. Every 90 days, leaders should pull out their metrics and ask a simple question: Who cares? When a metric was created, it likely felt critical. It had urgency. It had attention. But after a quarter of tracking it, does it still matter? Does it influence decisions? Does it shape behavior? Does anyone act differently because it exists? High functioning leaders do not measure for the sake of measurement. They evaluate whether metrics still align with strategy, priorities, and execution. Shane Yount challenges leaders to reassess what they track and why it matters. Because if no one cares about the metric, it is not driving performance.
