Cilium published its AI policy. For me, the key phrase in the whole document is "What you do with Generative AI reflects on you" because it is also true of anything you do in open source. People often ask me how to engage in a community and what I would say back is your contributions reflect back on you and create your reputation. Choose your actions wisely because at the end of the day OSS is built on the trust that a community has in one another. Scaling Tetragon can have a hidden cost: every policy allocates BPF maps in kernel memory, even for features you're not using. Alessio Biancalana from SUSE, alongside Andrea Solo, Sam Wong, Kyle Dong, and Flavio Castelli, spent time in the Tetragon codebase actually fixing this. The team got several fixes merged, including unused sock track map sizing, BPF map pre-allocation opt-outs, a file descriptor leak in kprobe multi detection, and kernel compatibility fixes for SLES and similar environments.
