Laura Lotfi, Director of Digital Scientific Innovation, and Mainity Batista Linhares, Veterinary Pathologist II, were featured in Technology Networks discussing why digital pathology is foundational to the future of nonclinical research and new approach methodologies (NAMs). The article explores how digitized tissue evidence, AI-powered analysis, virtual control groups, and multiomics are bridging traditional pathology with emerging scientific models, creating a more connected, data-driven approach to safety assessment and translational science. The promise of genomic medicines for rare disorders is immense, but current #drugdevelopment models, biomanufacturing technologies, and healthcare systems were not designed to support treatments for the rarest patient populations. That is why ARM, together with more than 20 contributors, including Charles River experts Michael V Templin, Matthew Hewitt, and Lauren E. Black, developed A Platform Framework for Gene Editing Drug Development. The playbook outlines a practical framework for leveraging commonalities across gene editing components, drug products, clinical pathways, and diseases, while recognizing where unique approaches are still required. If we are going to bring potentially curative therapies to patients with ultrarare diseases, alternative development models will be essential. This framework represents an important step toward making that future possible.
Announcing a new ARM resource! 🧬 📄 The ARM community has shown that precision gene editing can help patients with few treatment options. But its curative potential is still not compatible with our current drug development models, biomanufacturing technologies, and health care system. Today, ARM has released a new comprehensive playbook, A Platform Framework for Gene Editing Drug Development, developed with leading experts in our community, to advance frameworks for platform-based gene editing approaches and overcome these challenges. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eECDFnvQ The playbook provides concrete examples that help developers understand what can genuinely be leveraged across similar products and practical approaches for implementing platform frameworks for gene editing therapeutic programs, building on emerging FDA thinking on leveraging prior knowledge across related products. The playbook was developed in partnership with Danaher, Beam Therapeutics, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Prime Medicine, Inc., and Profluent. #GeneEditing

What if historical data can help transform a study? Virtual Control Groups (VCGs) are chaning how the industry thinks about control animals in toxicology studies. By combining curated historical data with advanced analytics, researchers can explore new approaches that support scientific rigor while advancing the 3Rs. If you have heard about VCGs but want to understand how they actually work, click the link below. https://okt.to/GqT9jb
