Veteran Support This Memorial Day, we honor those who gave everything for our nation. We remember their sacrifice. We carry forward their legacy. And we stand for those still fighting battles long after the uniform comes off. Because for too many Veterans… the war didn’t end when they came home. 💔 PTSD 💔 Depression 💔 Suicide Too many are suffering silently. Too many feel alone. That’s why the Cape Fear Veteran Resilience Project is bringing organizations and community leaders together across our region to connect Veterans and their families with REAL local support, REAL people, and REAL resources. 📞 If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 immediately. Help is available 24/7. Through the Veterans Outreach Program at Coastal Horizons, and with support from Trillium Health Resources, confidential help is available right here in our community. These are not distant bureaucracies. These are local people who understand service, sacrifice, and the importance of human connection. 🤝 We are working to strengthen Veteran outreach, improve access to care, and ensure no Veteran slips through the cracks. This Memorial Day, honor the fallen by standing beside the living. ✅ Share this message ✅ Check on a Veteran ✅ Support this mission Because no one who served this country should ever fight alone. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🌐 Learn More: 🔹 Cape Fear Veteran Resilience Project http://www.capefearvrp.com 🔹 Coastal Horizons Center https://lnkd.in/e5PiXMhC 🔹 Trillium Health Resources https://lnkd.in/gxANVYf ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ #MemorialDay #Veterans #988 #SuicidePrevention #VeteranSupport #MentalHealthAwareness #PTSD #VeteranCommunity #CapeFearVRP #CoastalHorizons #TrilliumHealthResources

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is investing $112 million into suicide prevention efforts for Veterans—and it’s a big deal. These grants will fund local organizations, nonprofits, and community programs working directly with Veterans where they live, not just inside VA facilities. Why this matters: Too many Veterans struggle in silence. Real impact happens at the community level—through outreach, peer support, and accessible care. Applications are open now through June 12, 2026, for organizations ready to make a difference. If you’re part of a group that serves Veterans—or know one—this is an opportunity to save lives. #Veterans #SuicidePrevention #VA #MilitaryCommunity #SupportOurVeterans https://lnkd.in/gRhsZ4ef

Honored to be in the presence of true leadership and sacrifice! Medal of Honor recipient Major James Capers Jr. joined members of the Cape Fear Veteran Resilience Project, bringing with him a legacy that defines courage, resilience, and service at the highest level. Widely regarded as one of the most highly decorated Marines in U.S. history, Major Capers exemplifies what it means to lead from the front. His actions during one of the most dangerous missions in Vietnam, where he sustained catastrophic injuries while protecting his team, reflect a level of selflessness that few will ever fully comprehend. Beyond his battlefield heroism, he also broke barriers, paving the way for greater inclusion within elite Marine Corps units and setting a standard for those who would follow. Moments like this are a reminder that leadership is not just about rank or recognition, it is about impact, integrity, and the willingness to put others before yourself. Grateful for the opportunity to witness and learn from a living legacy.
