Updates

  • As part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and our ongoing member spotlight, we’re recognizing the importance of culturally responsive, community-based care. Across California, PACE programs are rooted in the communities they serve, supporting older adults through connection, culture, and shared experiences. Organizations like Center for Elders’ Independence reflect this approach by showing up in the communities they serve. Participating in events like Oakland’s Chinese Lunar New Year celebration is one way to stay connected to the traditions and cultures that matter to participants. • Today, CalPACE thanks the California Senate for rejecting the Administration’s proposal to impose an additional cap on PACE rates. This decision helps protect stability for California’s PACE programs and the older adults who rely on coordinated, community-based care to remain healthy, independent, and connected to the services they need. PACE works because it provides comprehensive care built around the whole person, supporting seniors with complex medical and long-term care needs while helping them remain in their homes and communities. We appreciate the Senate’s recognition of the importance of sustaining access to quality care for California’s aging population and look forward to continued partnership as budget discussions move forward. #CalPACE #PACE #AgingPolicy #CAPolicy #SeniorCare

Meet, Greet & Speak is just one month away, and we’re excited to welcome an incredible lineup of speakers for this year’s featured session: “The Future of Duals Care in California: Why PACE Matters” As California continues evolving care for dual eligible beneficiaries, this conversation will explore what PACE organizations should be paying attention to, what’s ahead in the policy landscape, and how the PACE model continues to play a critical role in delivering person-centered care for medically complex older adults. A special thank you to our sponsor SilverRide for helping make Meet, Greet & Speak possible. We’re looking forward to bringing together PACE leaders, partners, and experts from across California for an engaging and timely conversation. #CalPACE #PACE #MeetGreetSpeak #HealthPolicy Gretchen Nye Athena Chapman Javier Sanchez Julianne Holloway EMILIO SEIJO RIVERA, ESQ., LL.M.

  • California’s May Revision marks an important moment in the state budget process, and an opportunity to evaluate what proposed changes could mean for older adults and the future of coordinated care. At CalPACE, we’re taking a closer look at the potential impacts on PACE and the communities we serve, including what these proposals may mean for continuity of care, sustainability, and long-term support for California’s aging population. This article outlines what we’re watching, what questions remain, and why maintaining strong community-based care options matters. Read our analysis below. #CalPACE #PACE #AgingPolicy

  • #PACE101: Let’s talk outcomes. A Department of Health and Human Services evaluation found PACE to be a consistently “high performer.” Compared to similar populations, PACE participants are less likely to be hospitalized, visit the emergency department, or be institutionalized, while maintaining comparable mortality outcomes despite higher levels of frailty. Coordinated, community-based care leads to better outcomes. #CalPACE #PACE #AgingPolicy
