CAB was created by the California Legislature in 1901 to safeguard the public’s health, safety and welfare. CAB also oversees the Landscape Architects Technical Committee. Each day, 40-million Californians work and live in environments designed by licensed architects. Architects make crucial decisions involving scale, materials and construction. It is CAB’s obligation to safeguard the public, eliminate the risk of building failure, regulate access for persons with disabilities and mandate quality craftsmanship that is sustainable. The California Architect’s Board ensures the public’s safety by enforcing architects to design buildings that meet all California standards and requirements.
